Can be? Over here, vaping is a fraction of the cost of cigarettes - now smoking here is like lighting your money up. The up front costs of the hardware and initial joice, are covered within the first 2 weeks of switching.

Yeah, my "can be" is in reference to the abundance of single use, non-refill

I used to smoke cigarettes and the occasionally (tobacco) pipe, tried vaping

One winter I got bronchitis really bad. Bad enough I had trouble lighting a cigarette. I decided at that moment this was my opportunity to quit smking cold turkey, and within two weeks I shook the nicotine addiction. It took
much longer to undo all the psychological habits, such as physical act of smoking or fill the empty spot of doing something with your hands when
sitting and reading. If I felt stressed, I'd want a smoke, but it was not because of a soothing effect or chemical dependency. it was the coping mechanism of stepping away and lighting up.

Yup, I have Extra gum (polar ice) for those moments.

And at the moment I'm chewing a lot (not at once) because I have a 15 year old son stuck in puberty.

smoking is weird because it really has roots in many things. your friends all smoke, you like the feeling of the nicotine, you like the smell, you like holding the cig. all of this plays into it.

For me it was when I was working a crappy in-between job shortly after the 2008 crash and found myself one day being able to afford either Coffee or a pack of Cigarettes, but not both. I decided having access to coffee for the 3 days until payday was more important to staying sane in the crazy environment than having smokes. By the time that payday came around I was over the hump. I ended up picking the habbit back up for a spell after the death of my father, and after my ex's affair, but both those times it was far easier to put it down afterwards knowing what to expect. And yes, the psychological habbits are the biggest thing - even now I occasionally feel like I should have one hanging out of my mouth when doing some task I haven't done much in the decade since, and I'm obviously WELL past any chemical dependency.

That's basically the same way my dad quit. Years ago, he said he got a bad cold and couldn't smoke and decided to just stop smoking.

I've known people who smoke (much of my family smokes or used to smoke), but almost everyone I know who smokes has said it's a bad idea. So I never started smoking and never really wanted to. Aside from the bad health effects, I don't like the smell, and I don't know how someone would actually like it..
