God I miss this. I'll be the first to admit that in this brave new
world I really don't have a clue how to meet people IRL any more.
No one does.
I suppose it does help things a bit to think from this perspective...
I suppose having a phone is a nice guard against unwanted advances. Hopefully, you think you're worth the interruption. :)
Hrm. I guess at times I do. I suffer from a pretty shitty self-esteem at times, though; it's been that way since my childhood. A yoke I'm working on throwing off but haven't quite chucked yet. I'll have to focus on keeping my self-image a little higher, too.
Sorry, I probably took that at a depth that you didn't originally mean to peg it at. I've been working on an interpersonal/community health kind of work for NaNoWriMo this month; it's supposed to be helping people that read it to see the impact that they can have on others, especially ones that are more innocent and looking up to them as role models. It's woven a bit in David Peltzer's style (at least that's what I'm shooting for) with my own autobiographical bits in order to provide cause & effect examples ranging from childhood to present. I guess it's got me thinking a lot more about these kinds of things than I normally do. And, I guess I'm normally even pretty acutely awere of that stuff just because of the struggles that I still have day-to-day in areas that most people have surmounted long ago.
However you meant what you said, I definitely take it in a positive light and appreciate it. :)
