    Hi,

Got 2 kitties again today, FINALLY, after 3 friggin' years of
trying to get them where I'm staying here. :D

Have fun with and take care of them!
Cats are really nice, we also have two, but older ones (8+9 years) from a couple where one of them was allergic and nothing helped. They are really sweet and we love them :)

Before them, we had one from the cat shelter - she taught me how to respect and handle cats. At first, she was quite a beast, but then we arranged with each other and after a while, we trusted each other.

    Regards,
    Anna

Well, we have a bearded dragon (have for a couple of years now), but yeah, it's not exactly the same. ;)
    I do agree completely.

I've loved cats since I was a very young kid. They love me, too. You just gotta remember, the cat is the boss, and you don't pick the cat, the cat picks you. ;)
I wanted to get one from a shelter this time around; I've taken in strays and abused ones before in the past, but with my son & I both being out of the house for up to 8 hours a day now at least 2-3 days a week my plans kind of changed... I have a friend who owns a farm and when I saw he was getting rid of twin boys I just had to take them. That way they won't get too lonely without any people around here during the day once in awhile. :)

Exactly! :) And they let you live in their house/apartment ;-)

That's good that you saved them!
We also thought that this time we take 2 cats, as the last one seems to always have been a "single cat", as she could not have another cat around - we tried it for ~2 weeks, the older one did not accept the new one...
But we found out that they accept each other but are not really big friends, they don't seem to play or cuddle much with each other.
Well, we all are just humans :)

Absolutely. :) My son knows how to treat cats, too, he has since he was in the single digits, but the neighbor kid that comes over once in awhile, well he doesn't really get it. He doesn't treat them bad persay, but he doesn't know how to treat them right. I guess maybe he'll realize it when they never come to him and always pick someone else first.
Yeah I've actually only had a solo cat once, and I wasn't able to be employed at the time, so it wasn't too big of a deal. I know that the paired cats that I've had before would not have done well alone, as they would cry quite a bit when I wasn't around.
That sucks that the cats didn't accept each other. I've never really seen that happen, but I don't doubt that it can. They're picky little buggers. ;)
    Best wishes!

I don't doubt they miss each other in the slightest, that's really too bad. My previous brothers, well, the one that survived longer, was kind of heartbroken a bit when the other one disappeared. :(
But yeah, pets are great. Especially the ones that'll come and sleep with you and stuff. The bearded dragon that we've got is pretty damn tame and friendly (never knew a reptile could be like that), too, but you can't really lay down with him and take a nap (though he'll lay down on you and take a nap whenever he wants). It's nice to have mammals around. :)

I've always had places where my cats have stayed in the same bed with me before, but this time is a little different. I have a huge jungle of
plants, and most of them are severely toxic to mammals, so I had to relocate most all of that into my room this time around before the cats got here. The kittie repellent spray that I've gotten doesn't seem to be doing any good, so I'm not really coming up with any solutions to leaving my bedroom door open so that they can wander in as they like. :(

We got one of those "Sssssssscat" motion sensor cans of compressed air. It seems to work quite well. It also scares the hell out of me from time to time.

Another thing you can try is putting tin foil on the surface of the table, cats will jump up & then freak out and jump right down.

I've used one of those on the kitchen counter to train my cats not to jump up there. It could probably even be useful to have more than one of those pointed in different places in case a cat would go to different parts of the same thing. I think my cats started to get used to it though - Sometimes they'd get more brave and walk closer to it without being afraid.

i dont have this original msg so i'm quoting and replying to this one.

i had two of them. they keep breaking. also the cans of air are 15 bucks so i was going to the dollar store and getting some cheap axe clone and that worked for a bit.

i wish there was something out there that held up better. it was working to keep them off of the stove and other areas.

Some dogs you can have in an appartment no problem. A lot of people thinks you can only fit a small dog into an appartment and that you cannot have a big dog in one, but that is false. When I was a kid I lived in one and we had a big big Rottweiler and a German Shepherd.

The trick is that the dog has to like appartment life. My Rottweiler's only goal in life was to lay on somebody's feet and get petted.

Now, I also had a micro-dog who only wanted to run and chase things. That sort of dog was precisely the size people associates with appartment dogs, but such dog would have chased you out of the house.

I just moved into an apartment about 2 and a half months ago. For the first week or so, it was fairly quiet, and then I think I had some neighbors move in above me. I hear a lot of rumbling and pounding noises from them throughout the day, and after a while, I saw that they have a dog. I wonder how much of that noise is coming from the dog. It's not always terribly loud, but it can be a bit annoying to hear that fairly steadily throughout the day when I'm at home.
