blocked from internet usage, a dialup solution sounds sweeter. I
still have a couple of land lines that could work with that.
Might be worth checking out https://www.dialup4less.com/canadalocations.html
Thanks for mentioning that. I haven't (and can't) look that up
at this time since I am now home with no mobile data, but I will
when I go to my shop tomorrow.
Years ago, there were several companies that offered dialup that
covered many rural areas in Ontario. Then there was a period when
those SAME ACCESS NUMBERS were shared between them, making me
think there were mergers going on. It will be interesting to see
if dialup4less is one of those or if it is a new one.
The existence of dialup services like dialup4less tells me that
there is still a viable market in areas where people only desire
modest web browsing and primarily simple email. That means, that
even a BBS could service customers like that too!
They have a local dialup number for Haliburton.. Though
Haliburton has a * next to it:
"The numbers above with a * are billed at a surcharged rate.
Please contact us for pricing at 888-818-0444."
Thanks again for all the details. I can't wait to check it out
tomorrow morning.
Their plans are unlimited for $10.95 /mo or 25 hours for $7.95
/mo for "normal" numbers. I'm not sure what the cost would be
for a surcharged access number.
I thought that they might be able to do better than $10.95. For
an extra $5/mo, I can get a boost from 5GB/mo to 8GB/mo with my
mobile data. Or, if I go to an extra $10/mo, the quota is even
higher to 10GB, I think. In my case, I would just need a
temporary access to dialup, or something that I can just use as
required.
They also offer dialup plans with a toll free access number,
but you have to call for pricing.
Will do! Once again, thanks for the info!
