• trying out a whole-plant diet and making a stew

I've been trying out a whole-plant diet and making a stew with
squash, kale, corn, peppers and onions, whatever beans we have laying
around the house, and veggie stock or almond milk. It takes about 30
minutes on a stovetop, and one batch works for 3 meals. Served over
a microwaved potato, quinoa or brown rice, it's been my weekday lunch
    goto.

That doesn't sound half-bad. Have you tried making a batch in a crock pot?

PF frefers 30 minutes total prep vs 3 hours. ;)

But if it were me, I would opt for the slow cooker deal. I hate
standing around a stove monitoring things, even if it is just for
    30 minutes.

I was thinking since it made enough for 3 meals at a time, you could maybe
make one batch on a Sunday.

P.S. Looks like the point is working. :)

True. But I thought PF said he can cook up enough for 3 meals on
the stove top. So, speed seemed to be of the essence for him.

Myself, I like the idea of just throwing everything into the slow
cooker in the morning, leave the house, and come back at the end
of the day with a meal hot and ready to eat.

P.S. Looks like the point is working. :)

I never doubted that it would. But are all the replies
originating from my point (and therefore from my OpenXP) being
addressed to the specific persons as expected? Or are some still
    showing up as to "All"?

I am sorry to see that some systems out there are still cutting
down the subject line to under 25-char.

I am sorry to see that some systems out there are still cutting
down the subject line to under 25-char.

A lot of old offline readers that don't support QWKE do that. That'll never change. Modern readers like MultiMail handle long names and subject lines without issue. QWKE will be needed for QWK packets.

Synchronet systems that include headers.dat in their QWK/REP packet down/uploads don't suffer from that at all.

Ah.. so MultiMail's basic QWK (not QWKE per se) can handle
+25char subject lines. That's pretty good.

I ought to see what Sempoint's QWK will do. I only thought that
either QWKE or BlueWave did +25char subject lines.

And of course, OpenXP is ahead of the game too. :D

The ones from your point are. I was still seeing some from your NNTP
uploads that are addressed to All, but the latest ones from your point
appear to be addressed to a person when they are meant to be.

If you are seeing < 25, it could be my replies via SLMR (not updated since
the early 1990's) or from my GT Power BBS (also not updated since the mid-1990's). :)

I think you need to use QWKE for that to work in your reader. I turned it
off before I downloaded this packet and I can see the subject line has been shortened although reading the message on the BBS the subject line is
    intact.

I ought to see what Sempoint's QWK will do. I only thought that

It would be good if Sempoint's QWK support includes QWKE support.

Yes, OpenXP is a great program. Does OpenXP support QWK or BW?

Yeah.. I goofed up a few times using nntp from OpenXp for this
echo. I have to phase that out in favour of the FTN method. Good

I looked inside the .REP and noticed that my long subj lines were
limited to 25chars. So, Sempoint uses the original QWK.

Meanwhile, the program offers BlueWave packet support.

Yes, OpenXP is a great program. Does OpenXP support QWK or BW?

No. But it directly supports the following:

    POP3/SMTP
    NNTP
    IMAP
    RFC/Client
    RFC/UUCP
    FIDO(FTN)
    Zconnect

It could act as a fine all-round swiss army knife reader/editor
for sysops. All it requires is a point configuration.

Different system. I have always been located East of the Mississippi. <g>
But there were many GT Power BBSes across the US, UK, Australia, Canada and other parts. In the US, especially Texas. There were also several systems in California. Most of the ones I was familiar with were in the Bay Area, but there could have been others in the southern part of the state.

They started disappearing, quickly, sometime between 1996 and 2000.
