I'm trying my darndest to understand the process to get Let's Encrypt certificates for my BBS.

I'm trying to do this for SBBS for Windows version 3.20.

I looked at the Wiki article for it, and it seems pretty cryptic.

For example, do I need to create an account over at Let's Encrypt? And once I do, what is the process for creating a certificate? And once you create it, how do you import it into the BBS?

Seems to be a lot of steps missing on the Wiki page. :)

    Thanks!

    JB

    No.

    And once
I do, what is the process for creating a certificate? And once you create it, how do you import it into the BBS?

Just follow the "Install" and "Configure" instructions at https://wiki.synchro.net/module:letsyncrypt

Seems to be a lot of steps missing on the Wiki page. :)

I don't think so. I think it's simpler than you think.

I added a couple clarification to that wiki page. Hopefully that helps. Let me know if you have more questions.

Set this up. It's all you need. Nothing to install, beyond setting
this up. And make sure your BBS is reachable on port 80 from the public internet. That may involve opening that port in your firewall.

I also had a heck of a time getting that to work. I ended up taking the error and pasting it into ChatGPT, that walked me thru some things and it found my problem and get me a fix, it worked after that.
