    All,
I've properly configured groups, so all should be good now. Appologize for breaking the rules though breaking rules is something I've done before, even if it's by accident.

Have a great day and thanks.

    Hey August!

The chars in the foreign language do not survive the journey to
    my Aftershock point.

The foreign language *is* english, albiet an obsolete incarnation of english (Anglo-Saxon). The characters are utf-8 which are 16-bit. They will successfully convert into latin1 (8-bit) but not cp437 seeing that cp437 is an extremly limited character set when it comes to latin based languages.

For sure, especially your quoting of utf-8 characters, although doesn't that now make your reply "UTF-8 4"? ;-)

Not a problem. Same with old DOS editors such as wordstar, micro-Emacs, etc. Where it will all go wrong is if you put some actual 8-bit characters within the same reply. That *should* be avoided wherever possible.

<Esc>:read !trans -b -no-ansi -s english -t hungarian "Strong like bull, smart like tractor."
Erős, mint a bika, okos, mint a traktor.

    Only one utf-8 character there but something like this will give you grief on an 8-bit display;

<Esc>:read !trans -b -no-ansi -s english -t ukrainian "Strong like bull, smart like tractor."
Сильний, як бик, розумний, як трактор.

Please quote the two translated texts to see if eeverything survives intact as the Unicode gods have prescribed. Your input is always welcomed.

    90% i am using my os/2 through telnet, so i don't really see non-ascii characters only '?' :)
tomorrow i'll be in the office so i can check if it works, but anyways now you can see it :)

    Hey Daniel!

    90%

    100% from this angle.

    i don't really see non-ascii characters only '?'

If by non-ascii you mean 8-bit (int128 to int255) then I get the same result except with utf-8 characters that I lack fonts for, such as Chinese, as well as (int128 to int255) which will corrupt a purely utf-8 text msg. They can't be mixed without having to alter the msg in question which is something I won't do.

anyways now you can see it

All the utf-8 characters survived the experiment which is excellent behavior methinks. Thank you.
