I did not realize that Card wrote 6 prequels (2 trilogies) to Ender's Game several years later. It's like he's creating something similar to the "trilogies" in the Star Wars saga.

I'm back to re-reading the Foundation series. It's been years,
apparently one of the media streaming channels is doing a series
    about it.

Never heard of it. That might be interesting. AppleTV. A series approach seems to be a smarter way to put a book to film.

Heard of books series, oh yes. But did not know they were working on a TV series.

I've heard about the idea, but not particular details about where and cast and crew associated with it until recently. But I generally take a wait and see approach to the whole idea. Until recently, I was on a fanlist for a favorite author of mine. The author was on the list as well. He mentioned several times over the years of various projects or deals such as possible movie or television adaptations. While negotiations were going on, he would never say anything more than he was in talks about a project. Not even what the project was, until negotiations were complete.

The only thing out of all of that I saw over the years was a comic book/graphic novel type adaptation of one of his short stories.

There are quite a few authors who seem to write as if their stories
would play out as a movie. Some are:

    James Patterson
    Dean Koontz
    Dan Brown

They are often under a do-not-disclose clause.

Sometimes the author is very particular in having control in the
    story-line for a film version.

One recent story I compared between book and film was Diamonds are
Forever. The film is a very radical departure from the original
story. I guess some film directors/screenwriters believe they can
    improve the original.

Is that a quiz? Who is that author?

    Yes, I've noticed.

Yes this was generally the case.

Sometimes the author is very particular in having control in the story-line for a film version.

I think that's likely a breakdown of negotiations in some cases.

One recent story I compared between book and film was Diamonds are Forever. The film is a very radical departure from the original

    It happens a lot.

No quiz intended. Raymond Feist is the author.

Yes, I am familiar with the books. I've even read some of the "sequels" by other authors.

I was asking August what he was unfamiliar with.

Hopefully it's still in works. Planning, plotting, screenplay, storyboards can take a while when a number of people have different ideas.

It could be. Or it could have fallen by the wayside like many such projects do.

I'm actually torn by the idea. The Riftwar Saga, and the entire series in that world, is a favorite of mine.
Far too often, the adaptations fall short of my mental image, or diverge from the source in ways that seem to cheapen it.

I understand that a visual format cannot always be faithful to a written source, and I do expect some changes. But there are times when the changes actually change the story itself.
