I remember when my daughter was born I had this idea that i would never drink again incase something happened and I needed to drive her to the hospital or something. Funny the way you think things will go or how different everything will be. One of the things that surprises me the most is how much so much of life has stayed the same after her birth and also how much better other parts of gotten.

Mezcal is my drink of choice though, even if it's only an ounce or two a week.

:-) There is no manual to parenting, what works for one, may not work for antoher.... so it's a journey, right ;-)

Mezcal is my drink of choice though, even if it's only an ounce or two a

I certainly gave that a nudge a couple of years back tripping around Mexico
on a food and beverage tour for a couple of weeks - Most excellent place and people.

Hmmm, yummy. We can get some decent Mezcal up here in Montreal but everytime I have a bottle from Mexico it is on such a completely different level. Where abouts did you go?

I am sure your family will be there for you.

One will hope. When I was young my parents moved away from the rest of my family and it was only in my later years that I moved back to this side of
the country where I'm closer to them. Growing up without any family close by diminishes ones, or my, attachment to them and as such I haven't really made
a big effort to maintain strong relationships. We just kind of make our own pod and focus on that. So accepting of the fact that at the end it'll
probably be a much smaller group helping me get on but this is the life we
    lead

That is remarkable, especially in this day and age where that sense of collectivism seems to have been replaced whole-heartedly with individualism. How's the ticker these days?

1 brother and a number of 1/2 and step sisters in the wings but they are all 5000KM away. I'm hoping that relationship will strengthen over time but I'm not one to force it.

Thanks for sharing though, makes me stop and appreciate the beautiful family
I have and cherish these moments.
