• Players Needed?

From Ray Sbaitso@1:19/38 to All on Saturday, October 30, 2021 12:59:10
There are a lot of BBSes out there and a lot of doors on many of them, but with so many games to choose from it can be hard to find other players for your favorite games sometimes.

What games do you enjoy that tend to have a problem attracting other users?

I seem to be the only person playing LORD 2 on BBSLink at the moment.

I enjoy playing Global Backgammon and Global War.
As I see the problem that you're mentioning, I've connected my BBS to
    BBSlink and DoorParty.
These are dedicated game servers - and as many BBSes are connected,
the chance to find other players in the multiplayer games is higher
    than in a single BBS.
At the moment, I prefer BBSlink, as I find more players for 'my' games
    there :)

    Regards,
    Anna

Well, there is also "life outside the BBS". BBSing, like any other HOBBY, should NEVER take priority over things like church, family, health, job, or especially "honey-do's".

With having to deal with a whole slew of medical issues, including degenerative disk disease in the spine, it's very difficult to sit at
the computer for long periods of time.

What games do you enjoy that tend to have a problem attracting other users?

I know my BBS isn't the only one out there, but I'll admit that the
InterBBS ones tend to get more folks. I had originally played several
doors, including Trade Wars, L.O.R.D., plus many of the Sunrise Doors,
JNS Doors, and several others (I've got over 350 online).

But lately, with health and other issues, I just do the QWK Mail,
update the ham radio and weather data, and play only 2 of the "casino
games" on my BBS before I logoff. I wish I had more desire and energy,
as I used many of the doorgames to keep my mind sharp.

    Daryl,

I've re-read my original message and I don't see where I mentioned that anyone should give up any real life activites for a hobby. My thought was that maybe there were players on different BBSes or multi-BBS game servers that could use the thread to find one another. I also enjoy hearing people talk about their favorite games as every once in a while it sparks a memory of a game that I have forgotten about.

Some people in another hobby I'm in, amateur radio, feel that the hobby should take priority over things like church, family, health, job, and even "honey-do's". It's like they eat, sleep, and [poop] the hobby. To me, that
is overkill, and one is risking burnout real quickly.

I wish I could spend more time with my hobbies, but my health won't let
me do it anymore. That's what I told my boss the day I resigned from my
job over 17 years ago. Had I not done so, I likely would've died long
    before now.
