    Ciao,

I think that more points of view are better than one, pluralism is the base of the rational thought.

Fidonews should be the official fidonet news media, but it's the only one, I don't argue about the contents, every one should be free to express it's thought, in the boundaries of the rules.

For this reason I feel sad for the miss of fidogazette.

    Ciao, Fabio.

An ezine requires a dedicated routine effort to publish engaging content, so its hard to have an ezine about Fido when really "nothing" happens in Fido.

No zone-warz thus no Fido political articles, nobody cares about IPV6 or
stats from obsolete star-systems, no new Fidosoftware to discuss, hardware to run Fido is all on cheap commodity stuff so no articles gushing over fancy modems or tech etc, etc...

    Ciao,

    Ciao Fabio :)

(BTW, I am enjoying the miele di millefiori honey every day, it is so good! Thank you once again for telling me about it)

    Good thinking there.

I could do it now and again ... I'll see what Sean is thinking... Obviously we don't have to create an issue on any kind of schedule. :)

    Could be interesting... :)

    Take care,

    Hello Nick!

Fido is not only what happens now, It's memory, story, and also teaching something that someone maybe has forgot.

Everything could help to keep Fido alive, also memories and various articles on it, fidonews has a regular edition, full of contents that can help someone to start with fidonet, but it's static and, as you said, nothing to speak about.

The Echo Area is a dump, I don't know why I still read it.

So I think that another media can step in and change something. :)

    Ciao!

Something even once a month would suffice, considering that
there really isn't anything that needs weekly urgency.

I usually don't necro old posts, but this is a relatively dead echo so it's appropriate in my eyes.

A fidogazette could be completely reformatted from what it was. As noted previously, it could be largely unrelated to FTN's in particular, yet still include relevant info about it. Maybe call it 'FidoGazette 2.0' or 'The New FidoGazette.'

A group interested in a project to kick it back into existence could volunteer time to design a format, agree on a frequency (weekly, monthly...), decide on deadlines for formatting/editing, and contribute. If there's interest, I'll raise my hand and contribute - but I won't do it alone because boredom will set in and it'll die again. I'll need others to keep me engaged. I know myself.

I've had thoughts about contributing to the old fidogazette but that was before it died. I wrote a story for submission on another bbs ezine, but that project - too - is inactive. I have an unpublished piece sitting on my harddrive that hasn't been read by anyone but my wife.

A fidogazette could include stuff like:

Strange news from around the US (or anywhere) - Something like a news piece from a small town from some random state. Maybe it's humorous or strange. Think 'strange news' articles from other platforms. Citing sources would be a must.

Bits from history - On this day one hundred years ago... or Famous people born on this day in history... You get the picture.

Interesting gopher holes - list the gopher address of an interesting phlog or other gopher locations of interest. And a short description on why it made the gazette.

Interesting usenet newsgroups - Some of us still utilize usenet. Would help to keep it alive in the BBS world. Maybe funny quotes or something.

New movies out in theaters this month

    A movie review

Discussion on a tv show episode. Maybe a review of a tv episode.

A BBS comic - Maybe someone can create an ASCII-art comic strip and publish it on some basis. If someone had interest in doing so of course.

The beginning would list contributors and acknowledgments. A table of contents. The end bit would include adverts for BBS's. Maybe a few per issue and rotating.

Maybe also a list of previously published gopher hole addresses from previous issues. Or a listing of BBS's submitted by active sysops.

These are simple ideas off the top of my head. If anyone's interesting in setting something up, let me know on here or send me netmail. I bbs mostly on
bottomless abyss. I'm also on MRC/IRC.
