• Wilders is Back!

From Lee Lofaso@2:203/2 to ALL on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 18:05:15
    Hello Everybody,

Dutch politician Geert Wilders is back!
His Freedom Party is polling third, only
one seat down from the other two parties
which are tied. Picking up 26 seats, as
    per I & O Research poll.

Imagine Geert Wilders as Premier. It is
not just a wish, but almost a sure thing.

How did this happen? Seems the current
premier of the past 13 years just got
tired of it all and decided to quit.

That gave Geert the opening he needed.
Having been under virtual house arrest
for the past few years (protection from
mobs that wanted to do him in) he has
come out of hiding to challenge the
powers that be thus upsetting the apple
cart that has fed so many for over a
    decade.

    His anti-immigrant policies will bring
    many Dutchmen (and Dutchwomen) home,
with housing being available for all who
return. Isn't that a wonderful policy?

And to think, Geert will be doing this
without building a wall of any kind.
Thus saving Dutch taxpayers what they
treasure most. Not really sure if he
will be building any more dikes, but
nobody asked him about that ...

That's what folks were saying *before* Wilders' party had
    a 26-seat surge in the polls ...

Wilders party won 28 seats, based on early results, which may be
enough to make him prime minister. Which would bring a sea of change
for the Netherlands, and Dutch politics.

A party will make whatever deals it has to make in order to form
a majority. Politics makes strange bedfellows, even if it means siding
    with the devil himself.

We do not choose a prime minister, we choose the members of parliament. While ever so often the leader of the largest party becomes the prime minister, that is not a given. It has happened before and it will happen now. Wilders will not be prime minister.

MvdV> That is what they are still saying.

    Wilders has defied the odds.
As Wilders has defied the odds before.
That is his style. That is his way.
Only unlike Don Quixote, maybe this time he will tilt the windmills.

Wilders party won 28 seats, based on early results, which may be
enough to make him prime minister.

MvdV> We do not choose a prime minister, we choose the members of parliament.

His party will go wild with him as prime minister.
And so will a certain Dutchman in Fidonet.

MvdV> While ever so often the leader of the largest party becomes the prime
MvdV> minister, that is not a given.

There is little difference in the number of seats between the three
major parties, with no party having a clear majority. But winning the
largest number of seats will grant Wilders party first crack at trying
to form a coalition. And that could be the only edge Geert Wilders
    needs.

MvdV> It has happened before and it will happen now. Wilders will not be prime
    MvdV> minister.

That may be your hope and desire. Perhaps even the majority of the
population in the Netherlands. But you know as well as I do that
politics ain't beanbag. Besides, it doesn't matter who votes. All
that really matters is who counts.

    Hello Michiel,

Geert Wilders and his Party for Freedom win big in the Netherlands.

MvdV>>> Not going to happen because he will not get an absolute majority
MvdV>>> and no other party that matters wants a coalition with him.

That's what folks were saying *before* Wilders' party had

MvdV> That is what they are still saying.

That might be what Michiel van der Vlist is saying,
but that is definintely not what the Dutch people are
    saying,

This was the biggest upset in Dutch politics since WWII.
According to the news media, as Geert Wilders Party for Freedom
won big - in record numbers.

"I had to pinch my arm." ~Geert Wilders

His Freedom Party won at least 35 seats, more than any other party.
This will likely result in Geert Wilders as the next prime minister
    in the Netherlands.

This will send shockwaves throughout Europe.

    In fact, it already has.

Just think of the changes that are likely to happen -

    * the Netherlands (like the UK) leaving the European Union

    * a halt for seeking asylum seekers and migrant pushbacks

    * the "de Islamization" of the Netherlands

    * lots of other stuff yet to be thought of by Wilders

Wilders party won 28 seats, based on early results, which may be
enough to make him prime minister.

MvdV> We do not choose a prime minister,

Geert Wilders will be negotiating with the other parties to form
a coalition, with himself to be named as prime minister. Feel better?

MvdV> we choose the members of parliament.

The Dutch people have spoken loudly and clearly - they want
Geert Wilders! It is his Party for Freedom that got the most
votes! And it is Geert Wilders as Prime Minister that they
want! After all, they voted for him! In record numbers!

MvdV> While ever so often the leader of the largest party becomes the prime
MvdV> minister, that is not a given.

This is the first time a far-right fringe party has won the most
seats in the Dutch parliament, more votes than any other party.
It was massive. A massive parliamentary victory.

And now it is time for the winning party to receive their reward.

MvdV> It has happened before and it will happen now.

It should have happened a long time ago. But this was the very
first time it actually did happen - that a far right fringe party
actually won. And it won BIG TIME!

MvdV> Wilders will not be prime minister.

The Donald Trump of the Netherlands has sent shockwaves throughout
Europe. His party doubled its numbers since the last election. And
now you just wait and be amazed at what he does as Prime Minister ...

    Indeed they have.

most votes! And it is Geert Wilders as Prime Minister that they want! After all, they voted for him! In record numbers!

Really? Do The People of The Netherlands really want Geert Wilders? Yes his party is now the largest with 37 (not 35) seats in parliament.

2,4 million voters voted for Geert Wilders. There are 13.3 million people entitled to vote. So 10.9 million people did NOT vote for wilders.

The Donald Trump of the Netherlands has sent shockwaves throughout
Europe. His party doubled its numbers since the last election. And
now you just wait and be amazed at what he does as Prime Minister ...

He isn't prime minister yet. This is not the US with a two party system where the largest always has an absolute majority.

Wilders has 37 seats in parliament. 37 out of 150. To assemble a majority coalition he needs at least another 39 seats from other parties. That won't happen today, it won't happen tomorrow and it won't happen next week.

We will see what the future brings.

    Cheers, Michiel

Nope, ain't gonna happen. The people do not elect a prime minister, it's a multi-party system where winner-takes-all doesn't work.

Wilbers' party won 23% of the vote, that actually is not an impressive win, meaning he needs another 27% plus 1 vote to form a government ... meaning he needs 2 out of 3 of the largest parties on board to achieve a majority ... and neither of these like him ... not even one party plus all of the smaller splinter parties is not enough ...

I'll be smiling when Michiel writes "Told you so".

The Dutch people have spoken loudly and clearly - they want
    Geert Wilders!

If the Dutch people wanted Wilbers, he'd have an absolute majority now ... he hasn't.

The Donald Trump of the Netherlands has sent shockwaves throughout
    Europe.

Hardly ... except in Flanders a bit, I think no-one really cares ... Wilbers' party election results barely got noticed.

Methinks that today all elections are influenced by globalism.

Methinks that elections are to deceive the people and make 'm think they are in charge, while in reality that is not the case...not even in the polling-booth.

There is a system, and that system has some flaws ... those flaws are called "elections".

People need to understand they don't decide the actions of the system, but the system decides the few domains where people have some liberty ...

We don't elect leaders, the system appoints thenm and annoints them ...

    Only my opinion of course...
