    Hello All!

I have been setting up proboard bbs with hpt and was having trouble getting all the message bases into the bbs areas, some of you said to try 8+3 name scheme so I did that, I changed it in the bbs for each area as well as in hpt config. Now most (not all) mail ends up in the bad area saying something is corrupt about it..

I have not verified all but the seem like areas that I did not have to shorten, for instance like BINKD and areas with similarly shorter names..

I don't know if there is any fileformat conversion with the -dosfile parameter.

Once I had issues if a third party programm created a squish echoarea file. When the sqd was created by squish the third party programm worked fine.
I would backup the echofile and let hpt create a fresh one and see how it goes.

I deleted all mail/messages from dir... And only signed up for ones that I know were an issue so we will see!

I deleted the entire msgbase and just let HPT create them as they came in, some work and some do not, its really bizzare actually. Some of the shortned names work and some do not. I am going to do some more exploring and recheck that everything is configured correctly. I am on OS/2 (ARCAOS) so I am not using JAM I recall some issues with JAM on os2 a year ago so switched to squish not sure if thats still true today.

What kind of job does proboard do in mail processing? Does it have a mailer and/or do tossing or it is BBS to msgbase interface only?

Exactley right, bbs just reads the msgbase. It does have an editor, but I have not used that yet.

Strange. The lastread pointer is updated by the editor but as far as i remember squish does have an own *.sql file for that. Check the timestamps of the *.sq? files to find where proboard puts it's hands on. If it does not touches the sq? files then it may be not a proboard related problem.

Not sure if that arrow I made is pointing to a wordwrapping issue, but it definitely looks like something is still setup the old way and hasn't been changed to 8.3 format.
