• Turning Fidonet into a democracy? Never gonna happen.

In general, the votes should have a weight based on both region size and the sysops' opinions distribution (aggregated by RC).

Are you seriously trying to advocate true democracy into an entirely technical entity?

Please don't confuse the network (like the internet) with the social media echomail/netmail (like the World Wide Web).

Can you even imagine what the internet would look like today, if the politicians had been in charge (with all their "donations" from the media corporations)?

Aren't you even a wee bit thankful for what the Swedish Pirate Bay still today gives you access to, when you cannot find that favourite movie/TV-show of yours, even with all your paid for subscriptions of Amazon, Youtube et al pay-per view?

Information wants to be free. Old Swedish saying. It most of all includes our cultural inheritance. Don't fucking try to make money of it, we will fight you to the death if needed.

    Good ${greeting_time}, Bj”rn!

07 Mar 2022 12:03:46, you wrote to me:

No: I'm trying to find some working procedure for letting competent people in FTSC (well, that's not a problem when they are ready to serve) while keeping incompetent people away (and this is almost impossible with current procedure).

Please don't confuse the network (like the internet) with the social

You may be surprized, but the internet is not a network - it consists of many segments (called autonomous systems, AS) being run by different operators.

Can you even imagine what the internet would look like today, if the politicians had been in charge (with all their "donations" from the

    Imagine? Just look at it...

still today gives you access to, when you cannot find that favourite movie/TV-show of yours, even with all your paid for subscriptions of Amazon, Youtube et al pay-per view?

You definitely will be surprized, but I never needed to use it... We have torrents.ru aka rutracker.org for years :-)

Also, I've never paid and, hopefully, never will pay for the information presented in any digital form. If someone would like to get some money for digital information from me, they will get it in a digital form as well: http://pics.rsh.ru/img/100_rub_2butzf0i.png (yes, you've just got it - but unlike the real banknote, it can't be spent for 13.8 meters^3 of gas, or 16.9 kW*h of electrical energy, or a bottle of beer, or whatever).

includes our cultural inheritance. Don't fucking try to make money

    Eghm... Unable to parse this.

I would compare apples with apples. For example the ISO, ITU, WW3C, or maybe more pertinitely, the RFC procedure of the IETF... Technical committees, elected by stakeholders making decions on technical issues. Is it perfect? Of course not. Does (did) it work? QED...
