I was testing sending myself an email based on the info here: https://kb.iu.edu/d/aavj
but it doesn't seem to work. Is there a new way to send email to our
netmail addresses? Or is that feature gone?

Its largely gone and unreliable. Spammers and stupidity killed it.

That was a thing at one time but I don't know if anyone is running an email <-> fidonet gateway today.

I don't remember now who it was that was running the gateway but I suspect it was shut down. email is not the draw for fido nodes it once was.

Ok honestly it's good that it's gone (as others have mentioned). I prefer netmail over email anyway just because of the spam. On my gopher sites I have my netmail contact info listed rather than my email.

Yeah, pretty much. You can try replacing fidonet.org with binkp.net (e.g. f705.n103.z1.binkp.net), but that's only going to work if that FidoNet node also happens to be running an SMTP server (on TCP port 25).

Try .fidonet.fi instead of .fidonet.org. Works for text messages, html crap will be rejected.
