    Hey Benny!

lets see screen mode in 8k while counting the pixels as stars in
    universe

That will have to wait until you can afford to buy me an 8k monitor. I have an orange pi that claims to be able to handle one 8k monitor or two 4k monitors but enen then there aren't enough pixels.

    Hey Benny!

16k? Given the cost of an 8k I seriously doubt it will be worth it no matter how many stars it can render. Besides you'll be no closer than you are with 4k given the 'infinite' number of them in comparison.

i just currently fiddle with python versions, now 3.11 is std,
and all old versions dependice need to go

So far all I have that requires python2 is seamonkey. Everything else has either been abandoned or hacked where needed, although at the moment I can only think of one app that requires messing with the version (gpsd) and I don't actually use it that much, mostly testing ideas. I can live without it.

    :r !python --version
    Python 2.7.18

    :r !python3 --version
    Python 3.11.3

As far as I am personally concerned, I see no need for either. Near as I can tell it's a hacking tool for Windows types. Also none of the fidonet stuff requires any version of python that I am aware of. I have seen at least one BBS that is python based but haven't heard about it in around a decade now.

What do you use python for?

have seen at least one BBS that is python based but haven't heard

all, gentoo needs python, there is no gentoo without python

No solar power here at the moment. Far too expensive given the amount of electricity needed. A publically owed and run electical grid is still the best option.

    BP> pyhon plugins in ?

Probably them too if you allow it to. At the moment I have no python2 plugins and only a few python3 ones as required by whatever needs them. So far I have kept it to the absolute mimimum.

ideas is okay, just like Dolly Parton thinks about portatoes :)

I have no idea what Dolly Parton thinks about anything.

    and you develop ?

Not so much these days. What I do I do because I want to and python isn't a requirement of anything I've done in the past. The only reason I have it now is simply because of gui browsers such as firefox and seamonnkey. Myself I use links in text mode when surfing.

windows is a precompiled problem that do not need python :)

    Heh, heh.

there is good tools donw in python for fidonet,

Such as? The only one(s) I've noticed was an app for offine messaging and I think it was android based.

but some of them dies when python versions is upgraded, this
force python to not be upgraded to keep it running, sadly this is
    where i am.... gentoo

That is the best reason for avoiding it in the first place. Mind you one could say the same thing about ALL development including gcc based.

For my part the basic rule of thumb is to keep everything that is important lean and mean. Browsers - and other web types - don't usually get much attention one way or the other and thus python is still an option with me personally. Like I've said, I can live without it as well as the many penguins currently running in this location. I seriously doubt many can make the same claim.

    Hey Maurice!

I can live without it as well as the many penguins currently
    running in this location.

That doesn't sound quite right. What was meant was that none of the penguins here - including the four below - require python anymore than I do, no matter what version of python we're talking about.

For the record, no python2 on this machine but there is python3 for some strange reason. I forget why now but I think I had a reason at one time. I am guessing gpsd although I haven't used that in quite some time now (years). I can delete it without any impact on the day-to-day stuff such as bash.
