    Hey Rocket!

    A few issues with 'mplayer -vo fbdev2' outstanding but it definetly is headed in the right direction. Hopefully kv-5.9.2 solves all the outstanding i915drmfb frame buffer device issues. I am regaining confidence that it will be sooner than later but that remains to be seen.

    Speaking of mplayer this works perfectly from an xterm commandline;
    mplayer -vo x11 <inset name of AV file here> -zoom
    where the -zoom switch MUST be at the end of the commandline in order to successfully enable the 'f' key in order to switch on|off fullscreen mode. Works like a charm ... with absolutely no need for an overbloated and extremely annoying GUI interface.

    We've just noticeably fallen behind on this machine. We'll have to fix that.

    mplayer -vo x11 <inset name of AV file here> -zoom

    Not on this machine.

    We seem to be lacking xorg drivers. I am betting that there is no xorg on this machine so fbdev2 is the way to go.

    Hey Maurice!

    mplayer -vo x11 <inset name of AV file here> -zoom

    Not on this machine.

    Same situation here except;

    -={ "<Esc>:read !mplayer -vo help | sed 's/\t/ /g'" starts }=-
    /bin/bash: mplayer: command not found
    -={ "<Esc>:read !mplayer -vo help | sed 's/\t/ /g'" ends }=-

    There is no mplayer on this machine nevermind xorg. Should we fix this? Offhand I don't see why given that 2/3's of us can easily take care of it. I say leave me out of it.

    Here's my $HOME/bin/fbplayer script, hope it helps:

    clear
    setterm -cursor off
    mplayer -really-quiet -vo fbdev2 -vf scale=:-1 "$@"
    setterm -cursor on
    stty sane

    Intel Mobile 4 Series Integrated Graphics driver: i915 v: kernel

    I am using Slackware 14.2 with MESA 13.0.6
    and the 5.4.66 kernel (custom upgrades).
    No X is running except by a necessity. Framebuffer. Videos play well.

    Hey Real!

    Here's my $HOME/bin/fbplayer script, hope it helps

    It works here on the console. However I add a ffmpeg one liner to determine the aspect ratio so that mplayers fullscreen can be determined and deployed. It lacks the ability that the x11 driver has so that the f key can toggle on/off fullscreen mode. That used to work on old matrox cards on the console.

    and the 5.4.66 kernel

    I am currently running kv5.4.72 which is the latest of the 5.4.x releases. It works great.
