    Hey Mike!

    get linux'd

I have been linux'd for about 25 years now.

About 30 years for this cowboy, 25 of which I started doing custom root/boot non-distributions and am still at it as we speak.

Backwards/forwards/sideways compatibility has always been the goal.

    Current as well. :-)

    Hej Benny!

lol, but i have not used windows in long time now

I've never used it. The last garbage OS I've dealt with personally was the last version of IBM DOS. I think it was version 6.0.

seen the new 2025 models of nokia phones with real keyboard ?,

They used to be considered the best until MS bought them out and proceeded to turn them into pure crap.

    whats not to like ?

The teeny-tiny screens I cannot read. Also the sound on smart-phones to my ears sounds like pure static which renders them useless as a phone, smart or otherwise. A real keyboard is a nice touch although it would require a console based linux OS to convince me to try it. Of course the would require a native gcc compiler onboard. :-)

    reboting....

With MS products that is a given. Best of luck with that.

yes the nokie winphones was not good at all, i think the idea was from microsoft to have common devices running windows 11 :=)

it have always failed with there basic compiler that is used to compile it on commodore 64

put comal cartrige in commodore 64, it runs faster, sadly microsoft have always doing incompatible codings for non portable code, all basic roms on commodore computers is not even basic portable

yes all possible via apps that support sshd on android, but no root access since google would not allow it

6.15.4 here, i dont waste time on windows

    Hej Benny!

not even freedos is tryed ?

Not long enough to be called 'tried'. If I remember correctly it was run under dosemu on a 486 running the latest slackware. freedos came far too late and was still 16-bit, which pretty well sealed it's fate to the realm of 'doomed'. The only serious competition to slackware back then was freebsd.

yes the nokie winphones was not good at all

I never saw one. I seriously doubt I missed anything.

all basic roms on commodore computers is not even basic portable

Something else I never had anything to do with. I had experience with basic but beyond the last DOS box it never stood a chance. The first gcc compiler I learned c on was a sparc station running solaris. It lacked a 'linux' terminal but given that was long before linux existed it was my only contact with c coding. Before that it was f77 on vax/vms that was all the rage. Them were the days. :::sigh:::

Speaking of retro, I see gcc has a new cobol front end. Weird. Now THAT is taking backwards compatibilty far beyond anything I've seen thus far ... or care to see for that matter.

    6.15.4 here

Me too except the EuroPoint has yet to catch up. I plan on upgrading it once I have a better handle on the latest and (hopefully) greatest linux-gnu. I can't say I am happy with the latest python dependency. :::shudder::: I am blaming debian for this current sad state of affairs. From day one I never thought much of debian ... or redhat for that matter.

Progress? I am starting to have doubts.

    Het leven is goed,
