• Decline in effectiveness

Study shows dramatic decline in effectiveness of all three COVID-19 vaccines SOURCE: The Los Angeles Times

As they mention, this study involves Vets, and they tended to be older (and male). Then again, the vaccine was originally advertised as something we
should get in order to protect the elderly, and they were in the first groups to be eligible to get them, so the marked drop off in effectiveness for a
group that tends to be older is somewhat alarming.

Something else I learned yesterday while getting my flu shot. I asked the pharmacist if I could get my booster there. She said that they were indeed giving Pfizer boosters. I told her my originals were Moderna. She
mentioned that some people want to mix and match hoping to get better
    coverage.

She also mentioned that there could be a flaw in that thinking. While the Pfizer booster is actually a full dose, just like the originals, the Moderna
is only a half-dose. She went on to mention, without my asking, that this
was because the Pfizer had shown a more marked drop-off in effecacy over
    time.

So if you had Pfizer and are planning to mix and match for coverage, know
that the Moderna dose is not a full dose.

If you had Moderna and are thinking of mixing and matching, know the
Pfizer becomes less effective sooner than Moderna, either because of Delta
    or just because.

I post that knowing it will be labeled as "misinformation" by our arm-chair medical professionals in this echo, who believe the original shots are
still 90% effective (which, according to the LA Times, none of them were
ever 90%), but it is up to the rest of you whether you want to take
their word for it or that of the LA Times and an(other) actual medical professional.

Maybe they will also try to point out that the LA Times is a hard-core conservative news source?

Back to my story... I am not really interested in mix and match because I
want the better shot and, since they didn't advertise boosters and I didn't sign up for one, I didn't and couldn't get one yesterday. I still plan to
as I believe the medical professionals who say the shot I got has lost effecacy.

And yet, being vaccinated is still better than not being vaccinated.

The Texas health department released COVID-19 fatality covering the time
period between mid-January and October of this year, broken down by age group and vaccination status:

And yet, being vaccinated is still better than not being vaccinated.

And yet, I never said it wasn't.

However, I like to share facts with people instead of lying and saying
stupid stuff like "vaccinated people don't get COVID, don't go to hospital, don't die, and the vaccine is as effective as it was Day 1" because I know
the audience is not stupid enough to believe that. They will take it as
the lie that it is, and it will make them even less likely to change their opinion about the shot.

I think you also know that most of them are not that dumb. Unfortunately, other people are encouraged by your sometimes misleading posts, which leads them into posting things that everyone knows by now are completely false.

The latest government guidance indicates that you should be straight with people. Being misleading, lying, or treating them like they are stupid won't convince them to get the shot, so the latest guidance frowns on it.

    Hello Mike,

And yet, being vaccinated is still better than not being vaccinated.

And yet, I never said it wasn't.

You have been saying that the vaccine is ineffective.

However, I like to share facts with people instead of lying and saying stupid stuff like "vaccinated people don't get COVID, don't go to hospital, don't die, and the vaccine is as effective as it was Day 1" because I know the audience is not stupid enough to believe that.
They will take it as the lie that it is, and it will make them even
less likely to change their opinion about the shot.

Nobody said vaccinated people couldn't get covid, just that they were were less likely too, because they are vaccinated and that they are less likely to need hospitalization or die from covid. All straight up facts.

I think you also know that most of them are not that dumb.
Unfortunately, other people are encouraged by your sometimes
misleading posts, which leads them into posting things that everyone
knows by now are completely false.

People are believing a lot of the misinformation being spread around.

The latest government guidance indicates that you should be straight
with people. Being misleading, lying, or treating them like they are stupid won't convince them to get the shot, so the latest guidance
    frowns on it.

Misleading is exactly what you have been regarding the vaccine.

It seems you are trying to convince people the vaccine is no good in spite of the fact you are vaccinated.

Indeed. A lot of people here seem to have a black-and-white, all-or-nothing, 100%-or-0% view of things, though. They don't seem to tolerate nuance or uncertaintly well at all.

Indeed. With the jab, if I catch it, I am less likely to show symptoms but
not less likely (as best as they can tell) to be contageous.

IHMO: Since Lefties like to project, I think they tend to project their own inabilities on to other people.

Well that would be the US government, either the FDA or CDC. I think it is
the FDA. I did find it ironic to hear that on the news, considering the
push for what could be an illegal mandate coming from the White House
itself. The guidance seems to at least partially contradict the mandate mentality... like if it is mandated it doesn't matter if you treat people
like they are dumb or not as you force it on them.

Actually, that's false. If you get vaccinated, you're less likely to catch
the virus and if you do, you're less likely to be infected for as long or to experience as severe symptoms.

All three of those play into the spread of the virus. People who don't catch it, obviously, don't spread it, so if the vaccines keep people from catching it, they prevent some spread.

People who don't have the virus, obviously, don't spread it, so if the
vaccines shorten the amount of time you have it, your window of
contagiousness is smaller, again preventing some spread.

Since the virus is spread through bodily fluids respirated into the air,
people who aren't coughing and sneezing are less likely to spread it as well.

The actual science shows that the vaccines *do* significantly limit, but not stop the spread of the virus.

Don't fall into the "all or nothing" trap.

According to Al, he didn't use "don't" as an absolute. And perhaps instead of contradicting himself, he clarified himself.

Think about Ford cars. There's the lowly Fiesta and the mighty Mustang.

You might say that Fiestas are inferior to Mustangs because they don't accelerate like the Mustangs do. Does that mean that the Fiestas don't accelerate at all? Of course not.

The difference is so great that one might say that they prefer Mustangs to Fiestas because the Fiestas don't have any acceleration. Is this technically true? No, of course not. But you would know what they meant if someone said
    it.
