"There were no guns whatsoever." -- Donald Trump, on the 1/6 insurrection

Several of the insurrectionists brought guns with them to DC. Some stashed
them away and did not have them on their person while on the Capitol grounds, but others have been charged with having firearms on them.

In context, this lie was in service of a larger lie, which was that what happened on 1/6 was not an "armed insurrection." However, despite the
presence of firearms, firearms are not the only form of arms. Other weapon objects such as clubs, pepper spray, bear spray, flagpoles, and a fire extinguisher were used as weapons during the attack.

    Hello Jeff,

"There were no guns whatsoever." -- Donald Trump, on the 1/6 insurrection

Why isn't that man in prison?

Several of the insurrectionists brought guns with them to DC.

Why aren't those people in prison?

Some stashed them away and did not have them on their person while on the Capitol grounds, but others have been charged with having firearms on them.

Why aren't those who conspired with them in prison?

In context, this lie was in service of a larger lie, which was that what happened on 1/6 was not an "armed insurrection."

When did the definition of sedition change to "armed insurrection"?

However, despite the presence of firearms, firearms are not the only form of
    arms.

Who says sedition is limited to the use of arms?

Other weapon objects such as clubs, pepper spray, bear spray, flagpoles, and
a fire extinguisher were used as weapons during the attack.

Donald J. Trump needed none of those items to commit acts of sedition.
Nor did many of his followers. So why the focus on the use of arms?

More information on this lie, including details about several of the insurrectionists charged with having firearms on Capitol grounds, can be found here:

I should have known. The right to bear arms is sancrosanct. That must
be why none of them are in prison.

Why isn't that man in prison?

Probably because he's abusing his right to due process in order to postpone judgment for as long as possible.

Several of the insurrectionists brought guns with them to DC.
Why aren't those people in prison?

    At least some are.

Some stashed them away and did not have them on their person while on Capitol grounds, but others have been charged with having firearms on them.
Why aren't those who conspired with them in prison?

    Some are, others got probation.

In context, this lie was in service of a larger lie, which was that w happened on 1/6 was not an "armed insurrection."
When did the definition of sedition change to "armed insurrection"?

It didn't. Sedition is speech or conduct that incites insurrection. They are related, but not the same.

However, despite the presence of firearms, firearms are not the only of
    arms.
Who says sedition is limited to the use of arms?

It's not. The claim was that 1/6 was not an "armed insurrection" because no
one had a gun. No mention was made of the sedition that led to the insurrection.

Other weapon objects such as clubs, pepper spray, bear spray, flagpol and
a fire extinguisher were used as weapons during the attack.
Donald J. Trump needed none of those items to commit acts of sedition.
Nor did many of his followers. So why the focus on the use of arms?

Because the claim made was that no guns were present at the Capitol on 1/6.
The claim related to insurrection, not sedition.

Trump repeated this lie (among others) today, 12/21/21, saying "I will be having a news conference on January 6th at Mar-a-Lago to discuss all of these points, and more. Until then, remember, the insurrection took place on
November 3rd, it was the completely unarmed protest of the rigged election
that took place on January 6th."

It's no more true today than it was before, no matter how many times he
    repeats it.
