• The Choice

From Lee Lofaso@2:203/2 to ALL on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 18:27:54
    Hello Everybody,

"Do you want to be on the side of Dr. [Martin Luther] King
or George Wallace? Do you want to be on the side of Abraham
    Lincoln or Jefferson Davis?"
~ President Joe Biden, Atlanta, Georgia on MLK Day

There you go. Time to choose. Either you are with Joe Biden,
    or you are a traitor.

"Segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever!"
~ George Wallace, as governor of Alabama

Bull Connor, the Birmingham Alabama commissioner of public
safety, enjoyed giving his police dogs a workout by siccing
them on peaceful civil rights protestors. He also used fire
hoses to blast demonstrators around when the dogs were busy
    elsewhere.

Jefferson Davis, president of the Confederate States, a slave
owner whose troops fought to preserve slavery, whose childhood
home in Mississippi is a tourist attraction.

These are the people Joe Biden compares to Republicans who
oppose his progressive agenda - and his vision to overhaul
voting procedures in Atlanta and America.

Either Joe Biden is totally tone deaf, or Joe Biden has lost
his marbles. Maybe both (if that is possible).

Joe Biden did not write the speech. So I cannot blame him
for that part. But I can blame him for saying what he said
"out loud" - and on camera.

Yes, his political handlers concocted the idea, presumably
to make him look strong rather than weak. And with his poll
numbers being as low as they are, he definitely needed some
    help in that area.

The next polls should be interesting. Instead of going up,
they will slide downward. Maybe even hit rock bottom.

But hey. Who knows if Joe Biden really believes what he
said about Republicans, that they are comparable to a bunch
    of racists and segregationists?

It doesn't matter to me what Joe Biden secretly believes.
It shouldn't matter to anybody else, either. What matters
is what Joe Biden says "out loud" - especially in front of
    crowds or on camera.

Joe Biden said he would unite this country. He did that
in spades with that speech in Atlanta. His handlers made
sure of that. The country is now united against Joe Biden.

Tomorrow, unfortunately, is "Confederate Heroes Day" here is Texas. It's an official state holiday. I have the option of taking the day off but
absolutely refuse to do so on principle.

    Hello Jeff,

Jefferson Davis, president of the Confederate States, a slave
owner whose troops fought to preserve slavery, whose childhood
home in Mississippi is a tourist attraction.

Tomorrow, unfortunately, is "Confederate Heroes Day" here is Texas. It's an
official state holiday. I have the option of taking the day off but absolutely refuse to do so on principle.

Louisiana used to celebrate "Robert E. Lee Day" as an official
state holiday. Until Louisiana governor Edwin Edwards decided to
rename it "Martin Luther King Day" - as an official state holiday.
Today MLK Day is a holiday everywhere, not just in Louisiana.

Many of our early US presidents owned slaves, including George
Washington and Thomas Jefferson. Should we do away with federal
holidays - such as "Presidents Day" - because not all presidents
meet our own ethical and moral standards?

Joe Biden called those who oppose his views traitors. Imagine
that. The POTUS calling those who do not agree with him a bunch
of traitors. His speech was about voting procedures, and what
    can and should be done.

Not even Donald J. Trump was that crass.

We've been through this before. At this point, you're just being willfully ignorant. It's not a pretty look.

Not to worry. Governor Beto O'Rourke will change that.
