Right-Wing Lie of the Day 0017
"That was the largest audience to witness an inauguration, period." -- Sean Spicer
This was the Lie that kicked off Trump's presidency, and the one that led Kellyanne Conway to coin the phrase, "alternative facts."
Spicer tried to offer several explanations for the lie, including the framing of photographs, floor coverings on the National Mall, and the use of fencing and magnetometers that delayed the arrival of spectators.
All of these excuses were false, as was the initial assertion.
