    Hello Everybody,

    Welcome to America!

Puerto Ricans just issued their mandate for statehood

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- On Nov. 3, the U.S. citizens of the territory
of Puerto Rico answered a simple but momentous question: “Should Puerto
Rico be admitted immediately as a state of the union? Yes or No.” This straightforward query produced a powerful result: Voters demanded
    statehood.

The significance of this historic moment should not be lost. Puerto
Rico has been a U.S. territory since 1898 and Puerto Ricans have been
deeply divided over the islands’ political status for generations, a
debate that the more than 100,000 Puerto Ricans living in Ohio know
well. After six consultations, with statehood winning in 2012 and 2017,
this was the first referendum in which statehood was judged through an up-or-down vote.

Results were conclusive. An absolute majority of 52% voted for
statehood, garnering far more votes than any party or any candidate
elected to islandwide office. Statehood even tallied more votes than
the elected pro-statehood governor, showing that statehood received
support from diverse swaths of the electorate.

In voting “yes,” voters debunked the myths propagated against previous statehood victories.

Puerto Ricans just issued their mandate for statehood

This is not really a victory for typical Puerto Ricans though. It's a victory for Democrats. Now they will be able to elect members of congress the sleazy way by waving handouts in the faces of poverty-stricken Puerto Ricans (1/2 of the entire island.)

Of course these handouts will be pure fantasy; a true Democrat never aims to actually lift people out of poverty. That would give them too much strength.

Keep em weak so they keep voting for fantasies.

Statehood will help wealthy and elite Puerto Ricans like Jennifer Lopez.

    Hello Aaron,

Puerto Ricans just issued their mandate for statehood

This is not really a victory for typical Puerto Ricans though.

Puerto Rico has been part of the USA as a territory since 1898.
For the first time, the majority of the people of Puerto Rico have
voted for statehood. That is 52% in favor of statehood, rather
than the status quo as a US territory, or independence. A really
big deal, a huge victory for everyone.

    It's a victory for Democrats.

It is a victory for all Puerto Ricans. Most prefer statehood
rather than the status quo of beind a territory. And independence
has also fallen out of favor.

Now they will be able to elect members of congress the sleazy way by waving
handouts in the faces of poverty-stricken Puerto Ricans (1/2 of the entire island.)

Puerto Ricans prefer democracy rather than rule by autocrats.
Which is one of the reasons why 52% voted in favor of statehood.

Of course these handouts will be pure fantasy; a true Democrat never aims to
actually lift people out of poverty. That would give them too much strength.

JFK did quite a lot to lift all boats, rather than sink all ships.

Keep em weak so they keep voting for fantasies.

Biden is calling for a federally mandated minimun wage of $15/hour.
A stark contrast to what Trump has done.

Statehood will help wealthy and elite Puerto Ricans like Jennifer Lopez.

    As well as everybody else.

52% is a pretty communist number to go by for something this big. Sounds like 48% of Puerto Ricans are Republicans.

Puerto Rico is home to the poorest Americans, and they have pretty awful crime statistics too. What will statehood do for them? And what will statehood do for Democrats?

Puerto Ricans are US citizens. They are begging us to allow them
to pay federal income tax. Imagine that. These people actually
want to pay taxes. Whoever heard of such an outlandish idea? Nobody
wants to pay taxes. Nobody. Even Benjamin Franklin admitted there
are two things in life that everybody can be sure of - death and
    taxes.

So what it is with these folks? Have they totally lost their minds?
Maria must have wiped out everything for them to be that desperate.
No wonder they grabbed those paper towels when Trump tried to bean
    them.

No matter. Most Puerto Ricans are already in NYC.

So now we have a contest. Will it be Puerto Rico as our 51st state?
Or will it be Washington DC? Maybe we could also add Guam. And the
Northern Marianas. And American Samoa. And the US Virgin Islands.
And a few others around the world that are barely inhabited.

You keep telling me that they are citizens, like 3 times, but I never said they weren't. I think you are learning some really good liberal journalism skills, and you would make an awesome replacement for Anderson Cooper.

to pay federal income tax. Imagine that. These people actually

But luckily for me, I'm wise to it. They aren't begging to pay federal income tax. According to the vote, about 1/2 of Puerto Rico wants the fed to shove it, but the liberal media is brainwashing them into becoming tools for the house majority. And we know how successful liberal brainwashing is, right?
So I guess they will become a state and help tip the liberal scale.

I don't get why they aren't already paying federal income tax. Shouldn't all citizens in all territories be treated the same?

If Puerto Ricans are currently playing no federal or state income tax,
then they would be fools to want to change that. I'm beginning to suspect mass voter fraud in Puerto Rico!

Would it be difficult to imagine the Democrats fixing a vote for statehood in Puerto Rico, which will further impoverish the most impoverished Americans, just to gain a couple more house seats?

The how would be the only thing difficult to imagine. 100% yes on the
rest. I am questioning the "Puerto Ricans didn't want statehood until now" bit, though. I was under the impresson that it was a popular idea in PR
before but that the issue has always been that previous administrations
(and congresses) were never excited about it.

Each of the states held a separate vote as to whether to ratify
the US Constitution or not. That is 13 separate colonies/states.
There were open debates, but in the end every state agreed, and
passed it, without changing the wording. Had New York chosen to
vote "no" the document would most likely never have passed and
the USA never coming into being.

When Abraham Lincoln was president, 7 states officially seceded
from the Union. After the war was over, the federal government had
to re-admit those states as being part of the USA. So, can a state
secede from the USA, without the approval of the Congress? 7 states
did. And now Texas wants to do it.

Can a state secede from the Union? Those seven did. And had to be
re-admitted to the Union after their little spat. So why can't any
state secede today? Because your orange god says so?

Thomas Jefferson sent two emissaries to buy the city of New Orleans
from the French. The French told them they were too late, as the city
had already been sold to the Spanish. So the French decided to sell
something else - all the other properties it had. This property was

In contrast to Andrew Cuomo's previous statement, "I'm not going to allow a fast-tracked Trump vaccine hurt NYers," somehow NYers are actually getting the vaccine!

    https://www.foxnews.com/health/ny-first-coronavirus-vaccine-health-care-worker

What does this mean for Cuomo's reputation? I thought we were too good for a Trump vaccine? But now he's changed his mind? What else has he changed his mind about?

I was convinced by his "tough" talk that we wouldn't see a covid vaccine in NY until 2 months before Cuomo's re-election. Do Democrats thaw out their hearts in the winter?

Maybe millions of NYers will forget all about Andrew Cuomo threatening to keep the vaccine out of our hands until he approves it first? I don't think I will forget about that any time soon. The spirits of the dead won't forget either!
