POLITICS is for the discussion and debate of topical political discussions, primarily involving an American point of view. Due to the nature of these discussions, emotions can and will run high. The following policies are in place to keep the peace in here as best as possible. Your participating in this echo implies implicit agreement to abiding by these policies.

    # Real names are required to be used in this echo. No aliases. If
your BBS software will not allow you to toggle between real name and
alias in the message header, sign your message with your real name.

    # There is no such thing as "free speech" in this echo. You can speak your
mind within reason but the moderator reserves the right to stop and
immediately correct boorish behavior. We're all adults; let's act like
    it.

    # Please do not discuss illegal topics in this echo.

    # Agree to disagree. "Discretion is the better part of valor" -- William
    Shakespeare

    # Resist logical fallacies. Don't know what a logical fallacy is? The
website logicalfallicies.info is a great place to check. We all fall
victim to logical fallacies but don't fall for them all the time.

    # PUSU ("put up or shut up"; basically show proof of the facts you're using
to backup your argument) is in force here. However, in this day and age
of the Internet and the World Wide Web, fact-checking can be done at any
    time by anyone.

    # You can discuss religion in here but no proselytizing (see the next
    policy).

    # No personal attacks against one's person, their family, or their beliefs.
This goes with the policy above.

    # Please keep the swearing to a minumum.

    # Keep your temper in check.

    # Have a sense of humor. It's amazing how a little humor will go a long
    way.

    # Posting of news/political articles in the echo are allowed provided that
the source is properly credited and the text is corrected to pure ASCII
(no high ASCII nor gobblygook caused by weird codepages in use by
Microsoft products). Conversion to CP437 is appreciated.

    # All messages must be in English. You may post a message in your native
language as long as an English translation accompanies the native
    post in the same message.

    # No blatently off-topic posts, such as BBS ads, "test" messages, network
    politics, et cetera.

    # Please don't gate this echo to USENET, a mailing list, another BBS
mail network, an online Fidonet mail archive, or anything else
without the moderator's express and written permission. This is
a Fidonet echo and needs to stay in Fidonet.

    # This echo does not recognize any local or regional echomail policies
such as EP1. This echo originates in Zone 1 and follows Zone 1 policies
    concerning the "echolist".

    # The moderator is the sole person authorized to correct off-topic behavior
publically in the echo. You are encouraged to contact the moderator via
netmail (preferred) or email privately first.

    # Any moderator action is OFF-TOPIC for public discussion in the echo. If
you have a problem with a moderator action, please contact him privately.

    # The moderator wishes to do as little moderation as possible in here so
please behave yourself and act accordingly.

    # This is a living document and is subject to change when need be.

    # This document will be posted near the 1st of each month and
    when needed.

    # Please don't hesitate to contact the moderator with any questions in
    private.

Thank you for your participation in POLITICS!

I really hope you're right that Trump will win in November... I really do.

But if Trump resorts to name-calling it may have the opposite effect that it did in 2016. And he REALLY needs to lay off Twitter. I've complained about this before; if this election turns into another slugfest the public may elect the passive candidate. Everyone is so sick of Covid and lockdowns and riots and "systemic racism" and all other nonsense, bullying and namecalling slugfests may seriously tilt the election.

Of course if Biden F's up once again with the racial gaffes, its game over.

I don't know how he can recover from the racial gaffes he's already made.

He doesn't seem to hate blacks, but he exploits them & takes them for granted.

The liberal whites, who think they need to burn Target stores down to prove their loyalty to blacks, should vote against Biden to show their loyalty.

    How does he do that?

    1) "If you can't decide between me or Trump, you ain't black!"

    2) "Latinos are diverse people, unlike blacks."

    3) He went to George Floyd's funeral when he had no business there. f

    4) He sent a staffer to bail out peaceful protesters who were being violent

    5) He promised a black female VP, but only delivered 1/2 the package.

And there's more, but that's all I have in my clipboard at the moment :)

In many places, both now and in the past, 1/16 black blood qualified one
to be called black. Harris is 50%, more than Warren's percentage by at least an order of magnitude.

Who makes the rules for such a qualification? Harris should submit a DNA test.

This might not be Biden's fault. He's not a DNA tester. He thinks anything with dark skin is considered black. Kamala probably tricked him.

slugfest the public may elect the passive candidate. Everyone is so sick of Covid and lockdowns and riots and "systemic racism" and all other nonsense, bullying and namecalling slugfests may seriously tilt the election.

President Trump uses twitter to communicate to his supporters and to the
world because the lame street media will never be an ally of his agenda, or get his words correct as they were spoken. The liberal media twists his words has taken his words out of context and they do this deliberately.

w/ Twitter you have to read what he said. They can comment on it or just look at the volume of his tweets and suggest that is the problem.
It is a problem, but not in way that they have suggested.
It's more of a thorn in their side, then it is negative attribute of Trump's re-election efforts.

President Trump has kept his promises to the American people.
The Democrats previously in 2016 never told the American people what they
would do, they spent the majority of the time complaining and explaining how bad Trump would be.

They better get busy and start telling what they would do differently about Covid, everything Biden has mentioned or (has written for him to read from) Trump has already done. The American people are not interested in Green New Deals. They have no tolerance for terminating fracking that has made America an energy exporter.

As far as name calling is concerned have you forgotten that Hillary called all Trump supporters basket of deplorables?

In Louisiana, it was 1/32 black blood. This was on the books
until 1983. On birth certificates, race was noted as "white",
"black", or "other". The Census also only had three categories.
Guess which category Kamala Harris would qualify as being?

Of course, according to conspiracy nutters, Kamala Harris is
not eligible to run for vice president. Or president. You see,

for these types of games were tried before after Elizabeth Warren
claimed that she was Indian, specially when she was not and more importantly exploited her alleged Indian heritage, just to get into college.

She has since appologized for that -- stating that she was relying on
family folklore and not any real geneological research or DNA. Maybe
she does have more native American lineage than you, maybe not. Many
people do have more than she.

Ms. Harris is not a African-American women.
The Democrats are saying this because they are using the race card.
This is obvious because of the undeniable facts
Her mother is from India and her father is Jamaica.

Actually, they introduced her as being Asian-American and
African-American, which is completely accurate. She has identified with
the African-American community for much of her life.

Should be interesting to see if she remains his VP pick, because she
is a anchor baby and her Parents were not Americans at the time of her Kamala's birth,

Both of your statements are true, but irrelevant.

which some have said would make Kamala ineligible from being VP.

And those "some people" (a phrase that Trump utters when he wants to
spread false news without admitting responsibility) are wrong according
to the Constitution and the Supreme Court. She is a native born
    American.

Perhaps a better VP pick would of been Bernie Sanders.

Perhaps some might believe that. Perhaps some wish that because it
would weaken the Democratic ticket in their eyes and make it easier to
    attack the ticket.

On 14 Aug 20 20:05, Aaron Thomas said the following to Alan Ianson:

I'm begining to suspect that the Trump virus (TDS) has migrated to Canada?

Of course it has, just like how we were spoonfed on how Obama was a perfect saint for 8 long insufferable years. A black president who was elected twice despite that evil systemic racism, who had every opportunity to "seal the deal" on mostly-good race relations at the time but instead fumbled the ball constantly... deliberately. And blamed Bush for every single problem he had.

In Canada, any American political coverage *must* be liberal or left-leaning and usually it comes from the Associated Press. We mostly have liberal or state media such as the CBC and all of them have their hands in the pockets
of the regulatory authority, the CRTC. Applications for conservative stations have been routinely denied for no logical reason other than the CRTC declaring that we do not want a "Fox News North".

We did have Sun News but it failed supposedly due to low ratings. Sun was the little guy getting sand kicked in its face. It really had no chance and was hated and viewed as fringe. But the power of the liberal media companies here cannot be overstated; there is a reason we do not have Verizon or Time Warner or AT&T up here or any real American competition. The CRTC denies any and all applications which do not fit the narrative or pockets of special interests.

    Hello Greg,

In many places, both now and in the past, 1/16 black blood DS>qualified
one to be called black. Harris is 50%, more than DS>Warren's percentage by
at least an order of magnitude.

I do not think that the American public have the tolerance
(This could backfire and blow up in the faces in a extreme way)
for these types of games were tried before after Elizabeth Warren claimed that she was Indian, specially when she was not and more importantly exploited her alleged Indian heritage, just to get into college.

Ms. Harris is not a African-American women.

Neither is Barack Obama. Your point?

The Democrats are saying this because they are using the race card.

Barack Obama's father was from Kenya. Definitely a black man.
His mother was from Kansas, USA. Definitely a white woman.
When asked about his race, Obama told everyone he is a black man.

Kamala Harris' father was from Jamaica. Definitely a black man.
Her mother was from India. Definitely an Asian woman.
When asked about her race, Harris told everyone she is a black woman.

This is obvious because of the undeniable facts
Her mother is from India and her father is Jamaica.

How does that make Harris a racist? She describes herself as
being a black woman. Same as Barack Obama describes himself as
    being a black man.

Should be interesting to see if she remains his VP pick,

Why would Joe Biden want to change his mind? George McGovern
changed his mind about Tom Eagleton, but only because the news
media had a field day talking about his shock treatments. But
the only person receiving shock treatments due to Biden's
choice of Harris is Donald Trump. And Biden is loving every
    minute of it.

because she is a anchor baby and her Parents were not Americans at the time
of her Kamala's birth, which some have said would make Kamala ineligible from being VP.

Piyush "Bobby" Jindal was born in Louisiana.
Louisiana is part of the USA.
Are you telling me he is ineligible from being VP or Prez?

Imagine that. An "anchor baby." Just like Kamala Harris.
Only Jindal is a Republican rather than a Democrat.

Kamala Harris was born in California.
California is part of the USA.
Yet you are telling me she is ineligible from being VP or Prez?

Barack Obama was born in Hawaii.
Hawaii is part of the USA.
Are you telling he was never eligible to be VP, or to have been Prez?

There's a sucker born every minute. Like other Trumpers, you still
believe Donald Trump's fake birther story about Obama, claiming he was
born in Kenya. And that his birth certificate (both the short one and
the long one) is a fake.

I guess in Trumpworld being born in the USA is meaningless.

It's the way of the ultra-wealthy. They own all relevant media, and all relevant media owns all liberal politicians. They want a world government for some reason; I don't understand why.

Instead of being honest about their
massive plan, they use convenient truths ("More blacks incarcerated than whites") to spin people into their tornado of garbage.

If you ask somebody like Lee for a reason for all this, they'll just write you an essay about sea turtles or something.

Such rules are not practiced by the law anymore. They were the law in
the past, at a time when being called black subjected one to all sorts
of official discrimination -- e.g. the right to drink water from a
public fountain on up to the right to marry.

Yeah History I know, but that has nothing to do with what is going to the
level of absurdity as well as stupidity calling someone black when they are NOT!

Ms. Harris is not a African-American women.
Her mother is from India and her father is Jamaica.

Actually, they introduced her as being Asian-American and African-American, which is completely accurate. She has identified with the African-American community for much of her life.

Complete Lunacy; because she has identifies with African American community? (some of which are downtrodden and live deplorable conditions in the ghetto) but this does NOT make her as a African American woman.
Rachel Dolezal is a white women who also identified herself as African
American women, that did not work out to well either.

Should be interesting to see if she remains his VP pick, because she is a anchor baby and her Parents were not Americans at the time of he Kamala's birth,

Both of your statements are true, but irrelevant.

Just because you want to ignore what I said, doesn't mean that it is irrelevant.

which some have said would make Kamala ineligible from being VP.
And those "some people" (a phrase that Trump utters when he wants to spread false news without admitting responsibility) are wrong according
to the Constitution and the Supreme Court. She is a native born
    American.

Yeah I know you want to blame Trump, but it was not Trump who said this, in-fact this was mentioned to him within a Press conference.
Trump said "He was not aware of this" but did find it interesting and promised to look into it.

Perhaps a better VP pick would of been Bernie Sanders.

Perhaps some might believe that. Perhaps some wish that because it
would weaken the Democratic ticket in their eyes and make it easier to attack the ticket.

At least the Democratic Party wouldn't be playing the Race-Card (racist) w/ choosing someone just based on skin color.

As far as attacking the ticket is concerned.
I do not see any difficulty with that whatsoever.
    Biden is a gaff machine...
Harris claims to be a black women, when is she clearly not, based on the facts which state her Mom is from India and her Dad is from Jamaica.
    These are the facts Dale.

Just because she has a darker complexion, this does not make her Black.
They want her to be black, Dale...
It's quite obvious what the Democratic Party is doing.
They want to point and draw attention to themselves - look over here
we have the first ever black woman running for Vice President.

See NO Difficulty using your words attacking the ticket.

Neither is Barack Obama. Your point?
At least his father was; at least black and was from African descent, and there is nothing wrong with stating that or even or noticing that, it's obvious. Obama is black because there is no denying that he is not Caucasian being from a European origin w/ white skin.

However, but with Ms. Harris claiming to be from African-American heritage
when there is none is just dumb.

Kamala Harris' father was from Jamaica. Definitely a black man.

Being born a Jamaican does not make you African.

Her mother was from India. Definitely an Asian woman.

Bring born in India, does not make you Asian.

(Just because India shares a border with China)
then using this to explain that they are Asian is asinine as it is also ludicrous. If your born in India, then your considered Indian.

Yeah I get it, India is on the continent of Asia, but again being born within the continent of Asia (within the county of India) does NOT make you Asian.

    Hello Gregory,

I'm going to have fun with you.

That's an interesting collection of files you have there.

    Economic Growth
4.2 percent growth in the second quarter of 2018.
For the first time in more than a decade, growth is projected to
exceed 3 percent over the calendar year.

If you really what to know what is up with the economy ask an economist rather than getting your information from Donald Trumps twitter account.

    Jobs
4 million new jobs have been created since the election, and more than
3.5 million since Trump took office.

Obamas last three years in office jobs growth all beat Trumps. The economy and jobs were good under Obama and Trump did continue to do well.

    American Income

American income continued it's upward trend. Trump didn't create any of that.

    Tax Cuts

Trump's Tax cuts have helped the wealthy become richer. If tax cuts could improve the lives of ordinary Americans then that is a good thing. Donald Trumps tax cuts, like the payroll tax, only help the wealthy, not ordinary Americans.

    Law and Order

The current state of Law & Order under Donald Trump and the current DOJ is beyond embarrassing. He commuted Roger stone's sentence! Roger Stone was convicted on all counts, 7 I think. Among so many other things I will not go into.

    Covid-19 and Response
We knew nothing when this "China Virus" came to America.

    You misspelled caronavirus.

It's true we knew nothing about it and had to come up with tests and solutions. There was a pandemic response team in previous administrations with a response plan if a pandemic should arise with guidlines to follow in that case. It did but Donald Trump closed that office previously.

Pharmaceuticals have been identified to combat covid

Unfortunatley there is not yet pharmaceuticals or a vacine for covid19. Some people talk about hydroxychloroquine but that is a malaria drug and not effective for the caronavirus.

The WH planned a response to the pandemic but to date none has been presented. The only response from the WH seems to be "relax, it'll go away".

The WH also shelved CDC guidelines in favour of a quick reopening of the country/economy. Now the WH wants schools reopened when the number of cases and deaths is very high.

In the future try to show a little respect.

    I have not been disrespectful.

Now that your informed and all.

If you have any good information I'd be happy to look at it. You have presented none.

A man who shut down your federal government

Obozo has shut down the U.S. Government several times.

It got shutdown for 16 days in 2013 Re: the ACA. That's one time, not several. The ACA did move forward unlike the unwanted and unneeded wall Trump pushed for.

The Credit rating of the U.S. was actually reduced under Obama.

Obama presided over a recession. Trump never did but that or something worse than that seems to be on now.

That says you need to know about his failed leadership.

Trumps failures were in evidence long before his presidency and continue today.

President Trump has kept his promises to the American people.

    What promises are those?

A better trade deal with Mexico and Canada.

Better trade deals with other countries.

Bringing jobs back from China to the US.

Getting us out of deals and treaties where the terms were less favorable to
the US than they were to any of the other countries involved.

I don't think he promised it, but this deal between Israel and the UAE

Of course it has, just like how we were spoonfed on how Obama was a perfect saint for 8 long insufferable years. A black president who was elected twice despite that evil systemic racism, who had every opportunity to "seal the deal" on mostly-good race relations at the time but instead fumbled the ball constantly... deliberately. And blamed Bush for every single problem he had.

I feel like that was one of the greatest failures of his administration...
he had a chance to close the divide but, if anything, made it wider. He usually did not waste an opportunity to point out differences.

However, but with Ms. Harris claiming to be from African-American heritage when there is none is just dumb.

Jamaica's original native population, much like most of the original native population of the rest of the Americas, was not Black. Blacks were
imported to Jamaica from Africa, just as they were imported to most of the
rest of the Americas, by people of European descent.

Kamala Harris, being born in America of a Jamaican father, is just as much

There could be many valid political reasons to prefer Trump-Pence to Biden-Harris, but whether or not she is really Black or African-American is

    Hello Mike,

Ms. Harris is not a African-American women.
The Democrats are saying this because they are using the race card.
This is obvious because of the undeniable facts
Her mother is from India and her father is Jamaica.

I am not 100% certain, but I believe that most black Jamaicans, similar to Americans, have roots originating in Africa. I believe refering to her as Jamaican-American or African-American or Asian-American would all be correct.

Barack Obama is not African American. His father was from Kenya.
Michelle Obama is African American. Her ancestors were brought here
    as slaves from Africa.

Kamala Harris is not African American. Her father was from Jamaica.

Piyush "Bobby" Jindal is not Asian American. His parents are from
    India.

The term African American is the same as Black, as the two terms
are used inter-changeably. Jesse Jackson promoted the use of African
American. Others prefer Afro American. Or simply Black. Which may
include other races as part of Black.

Technically, Barack Obama is not African American, as his father
was from Africa, never having been born in the USA. Ditto with Kamala
Harris, as her father was from Jamaica, never having been born in the
    USA.

Michelle Obama came from descendants of slaves who were born in the
USA. That makes her African American, than a direct descendant.

Piyush "Bobby" Jindal is not Asian American as his parents are
from India. He is of Indian descent, but that does not make him
    Indian American or Asian American.

    Hello Greg,

Ms. Harris is not a African-American women.

Neither is Barack Obama. Your point?

At least his father was; at least black and was from African descent, and there is nothing wrong with stating that or even or noticing that, it's obvious.

Barack Obama is not African American. His father was from Kenya.
Kamala Harris is not African American. Her father was from Jamaica.
But both Obama and Harris are most definitely of African descent.
    And also black.

Obama is black because there is no denying that he is not Caucasian being from a European origin w/ white skin.

Obama is black because his father was a black man. Harris is black
because her father was a black man. Why is that so difficult for you
    to understand?

By your logic, I am black because the state of Louisiana defined
all people who are 1/32 part black are black. The one drop rule, which
was in effect as state law until 1983, when it was finally repealed.

Of course, I still have the same amount of black blood today as I
had before the law was repealed. So I guess I am still a nigger in
    the eyes of yesterday's racists.

However, but with Ms. Harris claiming to be from African-American heritage when there is none is just dumb.

Harris does not claim to be African American, as she clearly stated
her father was from Jamaica. Obama does not claiim to be African
American, as he has clearly stated his father was from Kenya. Both
view themselves as black rather than any other race. Neither has
described themselves as being "mixed" or "other" as their race.

Kamala Harris' father was from Jamaica. Definitely a black man.

Being born a Jamaican does not make you African.

Harris never claimed to be African.

Her mother was from India. Definitely an Asian woman.

Bring born in India, does not make you Asian.

Harris never claimed to be Asian.

She claims to be a black woman. Not a white woman. Not a yellow
woman. Not a red woman. Not any other race but black.

As for nationality, Harris claims to be an American.
Same as Barack Obama. In the words of Bruce Springsteen,
    "Born in the USA".

(Just because India shares a border with China)
then using this to explain that they are Asian is asinine as it is also ludicrous. If your born in India, then your considered Indian.

Kamala Harris was born in Oakland, California.
Oakland, California is part of the USA.
That makes her a natural born American.

Piyush "Bobby" Jindal was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Baton Rouge, Louisiana is part of the USA.
That makes him a natural born American.

Yeah I get it, India is on the continent of Asia, but again being born within the continent of Asia (within the county of India) does NOT make you
    Asian.

Oakland is a city in California. Across the bay from San Francisco.
You can drive there in a car. Or even walk there on foot.

We learned from Joe Biden. He set the exmaple for us young, impressionable white men. He taught us that the most important qualities to look for in a president's assistant are gender and skin color.

So the next time you need to nominate a candidate for anything, make sure it's a female, and she needs to be black.

Something else that Joe Biden taught us, is that blacks and indians are interchangeable, and one is as good as the other. But latinos? Asians? Whites? They are no good for vice president - they have to be either black or indian and definately female.

It's also irrelevant because whether a candidate is male or female has very little bearing on whether they're competent/incompetent.

The correlation between stability/prosperity and female heads of state is likely a case of inverted causality. Electing female heads of state didn't suddenly make them stable or prosperous, but the same qualities that make them stable/prosperous make them more likely to either accept or seek out gender/minority representation. As long as those candidates are strong candidates, that's a really good thing. If it becomes a superficial pandering tactic, then it's a bad thing.

It's your pals the Democrats who sought a black female. Biden narrowed his list down to 3 somewhat black women, and he picked the least black one, but, whatever works for you guys will be fine.

Republicans suck at selecting candidates too, but they don't use affirmative action for selecting candidates for offices which can make life or death decisions for all Americans.

Wouldn't it make more sense if a presidential nominee said "I'm gonna pick a candidate with experience in war strategies" or "I'm gonna pick a candidate who knows how to handle a pandemic."

But that stuff ain't important, what's important is a blackish female, just because Joe has a racism complex.

    So was Kamala.

Kamala Harris' birth certicate says she was born in Oakland,

her an "anchor baby" - just like Piyush "Bobby" Jindal.

Which means, according to nutters, she is ineligible to run

Sarah Palin was the best choice John McCain could come up with.
She could see Russia from her house. Almost as clearly as John McCain could see Vietnam from his cell.

I honestly have no idea why people keep on with that quote, and if they're genuinely having issue with it. I thought she was a bit of a ditz, but I fully understood that her statement wasn't meant to be taken literally. Much the same way you'd say that a nearby city is "right next door."

I'm not saying Palin never did or said anything worthy of ridicule, just that she doesn't for that particular example, and the fact that particular example is what stuck makes the general populace repeating it sound really really dumb.

    Tax Cuts

Trump's Tax cuts have helped the wealthy become richer. If tax cuts could improve the lives of ordinary Americans then that is a good thing. Donald Trumps tax cuts, like the payroll tax, only help the wealthy, not
    ordinary Americans.
Again Alan, When Trump lowered the amount of the tax rate, you make more money as a direct result, because your taxes less on the hourly rate that you make.

    Law and Order
The current state of Law & Order under Donald Trump and the current DOJ
is beyond embarrassing. He commuted Roger stone's sentence! Roger Stone was convicted on all counts, 7 I think. Among so many other things I
    will not go into.

No the embarrassment came when they arrested him a frivolous charge.

The arrest of Roger Stone via the frog squad and CNN was there to capture it all. It's beyond obvious that they were tipped off to this event. Stone was setup by the Deep State because of this Stone was pardoned by Trump.

No Alan YOU! spelled it wrong it's spelled as coronavirus not caronavirus, I refer to it as the China Virus, because that is the origin from which it came.

Unfortunatley there is not yet pharmaceuticals or a vacine for covid19. Some people talk about hydroxychloroquine but that is a malaria drug and not effective for the caronavirus.

I don't recall a sitting president commuting a sentence handed down by an American court of law.

Trump is not the first President to pardon someone who was convicted of something, so I believe you are mistaken.

Carter issued 556 pardons, including the man who attempted to assassinate
Harry S. Truman (communted his sentence to time served), 3 people who
opened fire, and wounded 4, in the US House in the 1950's (clemency), and someone who was convicted of bribing government officials in Illinois
    (sentence commuted).

Obama issued *1,927* pardons, including Chelsea Manning, who was "sentenced" for providing classified government documents to Wikileaks.

Clinton pardoned 459, including Marc Rich, who was indicted for illegal
trade with Iran and tax evasion. He was not sentenced only because he fled
the country. He was pardoned after Rich's ex-wife made big donations to
the DNC and to the Clinton Foundation. Rich's business partner, who was
also indicted and also fled, was also pardoned at the same time.

Clinton also pardoned domestic terrorist Susan Rosenburg, commuting her sentence in 2001.

Trump has only issued less than 40 pardons, in comparison. At that rate,
he will never reach the numbers set by any President since at least
Carter... well, he might catch George H. W. Bush, who only issued 77
    pardons.

any time but got pardoned after donating to Bill Clinton's causes. I don't
see anything unfortunate about their guilt, either, unless you believe it was unfortunate that they were only "attempted" assassins (I don't), that it was unfortunate that Bill's donors escaped conviction by fleeing the country and never served any real time (I do), or that it is unfortunate that Chelsea Manning's actions may have endangered the lives of many of his/her fellow soliders (I do).

I'm not complaining about Trump, I'm just saying it's ordinary Americans who need relief not to top wealth holders.

How is a video from 2012 relevant in 2020?

Proof that we were having similar issues under Obama? Well, not "issues"
since Obama was perfect... it was probably somehow justified that ordinary American deplorables were not getting the relief they needed back then.

There is no time frame for this issue. It has been the case for a long time
and is going to continue. This is not a Donald Trump issue, it's the way capitalism works.

Donald Trump's payroll tax cut benefit's the wealthy, largely, and he wants

I don't know the circumstances of these cases you have provided so I can't say anything about that one way or the other.

Are you saying that Donald Trump's corruption is OK because of the above?

No, I am contradicting your original mulitple statements. You stated, at first, that you were not aware of previous Presidents pardoning people (of which Trump has done little of in comparison), and then altered the
statement to Trump pardoning people whose guilt you did not think was "unfortunate."

As you apparently are not aware of the circumstances of any pardon but this recent one, what you should have said was, "I don't really have much of an
idea about US politics, especially when it comes to pardons, but Trump makes
me mad and I don't think he should have pardoned so-and-so."

As for what I was saying, based on your original statements, plenty of Presidents have previously pardoned a whole lot of people, and several of
those pardons were also very questionable -- including at least one, made
by a 2020 DNC convention key note speaker, that was almost certainly tied to political donations.

To my knowledge, the only pardon in my lifetime that might have cost someone the Presidency was Gerald Ford's pre-emptive pardon of Richard Nixon. The
rest of them either went on to serve a second term, went on to not have their reputations affected too much, or did not go on to a second term for other reasons (and also kept their reputations mostly intact).
