Yep. He's the one who made healthcare insurance mandatory for everybody who
can pay and healthcare itself unaffordable to said people.

    Thanks, obama.

So why pay at all for what is the most basic of all human rights?

Have you ever thought about it like this?

    Imagine:

You're a human who was born on the earth. One day, you need your appendix removed, or you will die. The guy who lives down the street is the only person in the world who can remove an appendix properly. However, he don't take cash; he takes vegetables. If you can grow enough vegetables in time, the vegetables that he wants to eat, then you will live.

While you're struggling to grow these vegetables, your naggy neighbor tells you "He's gotta do your surgery for free because if he don't, then he's a racist."

Are you gonna join your neighbor's political party to demand the free surgery, or are you gonna be polite with the surgeon and try to grow his favorite veggies?

We have a good public healthcare system in Australia, and it works pretty decently. I don't know why Americans think it is not possible.

Well, here's a story for you:
I'm a taxpayer. I'm not hiding nor avoiding anything. So I have to pay not
just for myself but for all those who 'cannot afford' to pay too. But the
thing is I cannot affort it either. Healthcare insurance 'premiums' went up from $240/mo to $1300/mo between 2013 and 2018 for my family of three. Copays and deductibles have increased as well. So thanks to obama I had to pay
insane amounts of money and get nothing in return. And that's for the
cheapest insurance which didn't cover shit. $70 copay for an office visit,
$200 for a simple ultrasound, $800 for CAT, no coverage for prescriptions. If
I get sick, insurance will not kick in until I pay at least $7500. What a pile of horseshit!
Prices don't seem to go down after current president cancelled penalties for uninsured, but at least they don't go higher. Thanks obama. My whole family
has no insurance now because we cannot afford it anymore. Thanks obama. And
it became really hard to find a clinic that works with self-paying clients. Thanks obama.

    Thanks, obama.

    Hello Aaron,

So why pay at all for what is the most basic of all human rights?

Have you ever thought about it like this?

I have thought about it many ways.

    Imagine:

You're a human who was born on the earth. One day, you need your appendix removed, or you will die. The guy who lives down the street is the only person in the world who can remove an appendix properly. However, he don't take cash; he takes vegetables. Burying the dead is one of the seven works of mercy, part of the
teachings of Jesus, practiced by Christians around the world as a
model for how to treat others. Feeding the hungry, and giving alms
to the poor, are also works of mercy.

The first of all human rights is access to quality health care.
Anybody who denies that right to others is a murderer.

I respect your decision, but if it were me, I'd try to appease the surgeon with whatever veggies he wants. Growing vegetables takes a little work, just like a surgery.

When I hear the words "contribute to society," I think about people doing what they can to help others. But for you it means "just give us all you got and we won't give you anything in return."

Have you considered a hunter/gatherer lifestyle? It kinda works that way. You hunt animals, and take fruits from trees. When you've already eaten all the animals around, and all the berries, then you just wander over to the next town and start again. This way, everything is always free. Pay no attention to the people who are fixing cars, or building houses, those people are just wasting time to acquire stuff they don't really need.

I respect your decision, but if it were me, I'd try to appease the surgeon with whatever veggies he wants. Growing vegetables takes a little work, just like a surgery.

Neville Chamberlain tried that approach with Adolf Hitler.
We all know how well that worked out.

When I hear the words "contribute to society," I think about people doing what they can to help others. But for you it means "just give us all you got and we won't give you anything in return."

That is why FDR put people to work by creating jobs for them to do.
He even created a retirement system folks could rely on for when their
working days were over. What we should do now is expand on what has
been done so far, by lowering the age for social security, making
medicare free for all (regardless of age), and providing access to
quality health care to everyone - including immigrants, children, and
the poorest of the poor. And that's just for starters.

Have you considered a hunter/gatherer lifestyle?

Sure. And such a lifestyle proves my point. Bureaucracy is the best
invention mankind has ever thought up.

It kinda works that way. You hunt animals, and take fruits from trees. When
you've already eaten all the animals around, and all the berries, then you just wander over to the next town and start again. This way, everything is always free.

Libertarians are loners, which is why there are so few of them.

Pay no attention to the people who are fixing cars, or building houses, those people are just wasting time to acquire stuff they don't really need.

Everybody has to eat. In a modern society, that is very difficult
when there is no food around to be caught and/or butchered. And then
there is the problem of finding enough drinkable water, which is
    also needed for survival.

    Hence the creation/invention of bureaucracy.

Men stayed in the caves to tend to the needs of the young.
Women went out into the fields and brought home the bacon.

But medicare for all of the USA? What would we have to give up to free up the money for that? Would the roads still get paved? Would we still have a military?

Immigrants should be able to enjoy all the same stuff that citizens enjoy, but not illegal immigrants.

Not just healthcare. And let's not forget about raising penalties for

But if people need to pay their taxes, then these services are not really "free." In a country where we are all supposed to be equal (pretty sure
you've mentioned that before), who has the right to say that one person
needs to pay more than their fare share so that someone else can get away

The best things in life are free.
Such as living inside a Canuck's head, rent free.

Lee claims to be "in a Canuck's head."

The Millionaire claims to live in Canada.

So, Lee = The Millionaire??? :D

We have a good public healthcare system in Australia, and it works pretty >DK> decently. I don't know why Americans think it is not possible.

Making medical care affordable, and making it free for the world, are two different things, and in some ways, mutually exclusive.

Question -- is suing people for malpractice, or lawyers who make a living
doing only that, popular in Australia? Are elective, cosmetic surgeries popular there?

Sorry, that is 2 questions. :)

To answer your questions as best I can
    1) As far as I know, not as much, I'll have to do research. But I suspect the difference wouldn't be massive.

    2) Per capita, Australians spend more than the USA on cosmetic surgery. I saw a figure of 40% more per capita. This may be in part due to Australia being heavily urbanised.

So, Lee = The Millionaire??? :D

According to his logic, the government should order him to give his
    millions away to everyone.

Thanks. My assumption has always been that part of the issue in the US is
that people are more likely to sue...

... and that they are more likely to sue because there is a lot of
cosmetic surgery that does not turn out like the patient expects.

    Maybe that is not why.

That is predicated on my answer to question 1 being correct, which I'm not 100% sure it is. I'm basing my answer on the fact we don't hear as much about doctors being sued here.

Are you gonna join your neighbor's political party to demand the
free LL> AT> surgery, or are you gonna be polite with the surgeon and try AT>to grow h LL> AT> favorite veggies?

The first of all human rights is access to quality health care.
Anybody who denies that right to others is a murderer.

I respect your decision, but if it were me, I'd try to appease the surgeon AT>with whatever veggies he wants. Growing vegetables takes a little work, AT>just like a surgery.

When I hear the words "contribute to society," I think about people doing AT>what they can to help others. But for you it means "just give us all you AT>got and we won't give you anything in return."

Have you considered a hunter/gatherer lifestyle? It kinda works that way. AT>You hunt animals, and take fruits from trees. When you've already eaten AT>all the animals around, and all the berries, then you just wander over to AT>the next town and start again. This way, everything is always free. Pay no AT>attention to the people who are fixing cars, or building houses, those AT>people are just wasting time to acquire stuff they don't really need.

    Yeah....like food....housing...their own healthcare....

All the things leftist democrats feel should be `free'!

Dorothy to Scarecrow: "How can you talk when you haven't got a brain?"

Scarecrow to Dorothy: "Some people without brains do an awful lot of talking!"

I could give them solutions for free food and
shelter (sleep under an apple tree) but then they want to know how I can extend the offer to the rest of the world.
