My only so called beef was with your inaccurate statement of
"in the language of their choice. " That is NOT correct.
My native language is Cajun French, not English.
But I am not limited to writing in French. Or in English.
I can do so in Spanish. Or Swahili. Or whatever other

I live in Louisiana. I speak with people in Cajun French
all the time. There are also some folks I converse with
in ASL.
One of the nice things about ASL is that over 60 percent of the
signs are the same in French Sign Language. That basically makes
me bilingual in two different way.
I really did enjoy President Macron's visit to New Orleans, as
did many others. He acknowledged us all, waving at us, and also
thanking us for the fountain pen given to him, the wood coming
from a street car.
It is amazing how the wave of a hand means the same thing
in many languages.

Fidonet is not limited to sysops only. All are welcome to participate
in the echo(s) of their choice.
1.2.1.1 Users
The sysop is responsible for the actions of any user when they affect the
rest of FidoNet. (If a user is annoying, the sysop is annoying.) Any traffic entering FidoNet via a given node, if not from the sysop, is consid-
ered to be from a user and is the responsibility of the sysop. (See section
2.1.3.)
One more time. Fidonet is not limited to sysops only.
You are a sysop, having your own board. You are free to
allow anybody and everybody to use your board. Or not
to allow. It is all up to you, as it is your board.
And that is the way it should be. Each sysop is lord and master
of his/her own board. What could be more fair than that?
Do you need a document written by anonymous to tell you that?
Do you need a document at all to tell you that?
Do you need anybody at all to tell you what to do?
But as you know, it is not an official document of anything.
Nobody knows who signed it. Or who wrote it. Or how many took
part in writing it. It was also never ratified. In any zone.
Policy 4 is the governing document of fidonet. Like it or not.
I do not recognize it as having any legitimate authority.
And why should I? Nobody signed it. No zone ratified it. Only
one sanctioned vote taken, in zone 2, the result uanimmous
rejection.
Nobody even knows who wrote it. And none came forward even
to make that claim. So what makes it so special to you?
Perhaps this is why more Democrats get locked up more then Republicans because they argue with the law.

a con in Zone 2.

I was not the one who mentioned ratification to any degree, your the one that went down that dead-end road, not me.
You cited P4 as if it was "the law" - I set you straight on that
subject by noting it was never ratified, and no sysop ever voted in
favor of it. You cannot even tell me who wrote it, since nobody took
credit. That's right. Nobody signed it. So please tell me. Who wrote
it?
We know who wrote the Declaration of Independence.
Those who wrote it signed their own names.
We know who wrote the US Constitution.
Those who wrote it signed their own names.
We also know which states ratified the US Consitution.
Each individual state (colony) did, one at a time.
So was it so difficult for those who wrote P4 to sign their names?

Therefore, I would say quite simply to and in regards to Policy 4 what has existed before would obviously remain.

Why not? The only "rule" that I know of in regards to becoming
a Fidonet sysop is to demonstrate the ability to send and receive
netmail. I can do that. Anytime I like.
It would terrible to see you crushed under something that you believe does not exist.
Fidonet is a community of sysops around the world - not a piece
of cyberjunk. The reason for being is communication. Not just with
other sysops, but also others who are also interested. This is not
limited to those who speak English, as the world is a very big
place, with many different peoples.
There has been political fighting for dominance and control, but you have no
dog in this fight even if it did exist in 2023.
Anybody can join Fidonet. I have already told you the one and only
"rule" that is said to exist. So why is there even a P4?
