• Americs's Third Reich Google!

From ED KOON@1:123/140 to ALL on Friday, April 09, 2021 19:00:46
Google! Video take-down on YouTube which is a bunch of Google Third Reich
Crap. Big tech is stifling our constitutional right to free speech. Making up policies on the fly and striking creators accounts with violations. Meanwhile China loving Joe Biden is turning America into a third world shit-hole!

It’s really simple to see what’s going on. Big Tech does not want anyone talking about the Covid-19 Plandemic. They also don’t want anyone discussing the legitimacy of Joe Biden’s presidency. Google the self-proclaimed
gatekeeper of the Internet manipulated its search indexes to bury pro-Trump keywords and keyphrases. Then they made sure everything negative was given top priority. It’s election manipulation on an unprecedented scale. They’re silencing us because they’re guilty!

Many American voters believe in their gut that Joe Biden and his DNC cohorts cheated. It’s my opinion that a large consortium of interconnected people
threw the 2021 presidential election. That’s the only logical reason for all the social media censorship. They know we know, despite we can not prove it yet. Meanwhile, as Joe Biden quickly turns America into a Third World Shit- Hole the truth will come out sooner or later. Hopefully sooner as those involved drop dimes on each other!

I have noticed that FB flags posts about COVID as if there is
misinformation even when it is someone posting how they got the shot and encouraging others to do same.

People get all pissed off about "Russia" but don't seem to take much issue
with direct FB and other social media manipulation. I tried an experiment
on both YT and FB. I made an effort to search for non-political stuff for several days, and to continue only click on/watching stuff that was not-political.

After doing that for about a week, I noticed that FB waited about a day
before going back to business as usual, i.e. showing me posts about
politics before stuff I had showed interest in. On YT, it took about a week before damn near everything I was being shown, even without clicking on any, was about politics, while non-political stuff I had even subscribed to I had
    to go hunt for.

You can even click around to get the "not interested" option and choose it,
but they will still keep showing you other stuff just like it.

I am convinced they wanted us angry before the election. I am not sure why they still want us that way.

By the way, welcome back, and feel free to stay a while.

I don't buy into the conspiracy theory nonsense that you're responding to,
but am responding just to your response. I haven't noticed FB flagging COVID posts about people being vaccinated, but I'm sure we have quite different FB "profiles."

People get all pissed off about "Russia" but don't seem to take much
issue with direct FB and other social media manipulation. I tried an experiment on both YT and FB. I made an effort to search for non-political stuff for several days, and to continue only click on/watching stuff that was not-political.

This is an interesting experiment, both measurable and repeatable.

This does not surprise me at all. I don't believe FB/YT are doing it for political reasons, though. They make their money selling information about
you and targeting ads at you. The more you engage with their services, the
more information they can gather about you and at you, and the more valuable you are to them. It's quite possible that they know you better than you know you.

In the case of FB, it could also be what my friends were doing. Since they were not engaged in the same experiment...

In the case of YT, I am less sure about that. Most of what I ever search
for is not political... I prefer videos about old cars, trains, road travel, classic cartoons, history, college football, and science/technology (old
and new). They may have drawn some conclusions about my political
preference from those search items, or maybe from the fact that I don't use their service to look up left-leaning political causes.

I do think they do it on purpose, but agree that making money off of it is
by far their number one goal. When you think about it, keeping us angry,
so those who are inclined will keep looking up political stuff, makes them money.

That is very true. Or the guy sitting next to you at the bar (or wherever). Your location being in close proximity to someone else's location can cause a comingling of ads, too.

True. YT is not my preferred source of political news, either. Most of my searches are music, music production, guitar how-tos, vintage computing, and electronics. However, YT is owned by Google, so our Google searches could affect YT ads and/or suggested videos, too.

That is true as well. Continued engagement is key to their business model.

At a bar? During COVID? That would violate all sorts of social distancing rules. Shame on you! :D Actually, the only "phone" I have FB on is not
very mobile. I use it as a wireless device in the house. It doesn't have
a data plan and only works as a phone with the magicjack app.

Could be. I have tried to point most of my default search engines to duck
duck go, but I still use google maps pretty regular.

Since YT is not your preferred source of political news, does it still try
to show you news (mostly political) even though you've been searching mostly for music and tech videos?

We've seen this happen. My fiancee will Google, say, non-stick pans, and then I'll start getting ads for non-stick pans in FB.

Not really, no. Or not that I've noticed, anyway. I'll look real quick. Here are the top 10 recommended videos when I go to YouTube:
    1. "Woodstock Photos, Discretion Advised" (this is the only one marked as an ad)
    2. "Critical Acclaim [Avenged Sevenfold] Cover by A-YEON" (I am neither a fan of Avenged Sevenfold nor a follower of A-YEON)
    3. "Room erupts in laughter as Watergate witness humiliates Matt Gaetz" (so there are some politics)
    4. "Using Inexpensive 433 MHz RF Modules with Arduino"
    5. "The Radical Innovations of the Perfect Beatles Song"
    6. "Waves CLA-76 (Comparison with ANALOG!)
    7. "Star Trek: Discovery | Season 4 Teaser | Paramount+"
    8. "10 Legendary Guitar Tones with SPARK by Positive Grid" (I do own a Spark amp)
    9. "Apollo Guidance Computer Part 21: Playing moon landing on our restore..." 10. "Scolded By The Judge: George Floyd witness talks back one too many..."

So in this small sample, 20% were political in nature. I guess I've just been ignoring them, because I would not have put it that high.

A friend of mine at work, who apparently has no cats, was around someone
who was talking about their cats. Next time she was on FB... stuff about
cat food and cat toys. :) But they swear they are not listening. :D

    9. "Apollo Guidance Computer Part 21: Playing moon landing on our restore..."

    That one sounds interesting.

I try to ignore them, but I seem to get a bunch. I need to check how many
    are in the first 10.

4.5 out of 10. That does not count the 10th one, which was a satirical
piece by the babylon bee. The ".5" is one that was about "wokeness" in
    sports, so I scored it half-politics. :D

45% seems about right for what I would have estimated.

I don't doubt for a moment that they're listening. I love tech, but I won't have any Alexa-like things in my house. Except, you know, my phone.
