The attorney for Jacob Chansley (aka the Q Shaman) is on at least his second defense of the insurrectionist.
A previous defense was that Chansley would not have been there on 1/6 and
would not have done what he had done were it not for Trump's words. This defense failed, not because Trump's words weren't a factor but because "just following orders" is not a valid excuse for one's behavior.
Now the attorney is pursuing a mental health defense for Chansley. Speaking
to TPM, the attorney said: "A lot of these defendants -- and I'm going to
use this colloquial term, perhaps disrespectfully -- but they’re all [expletive] short-bus people. These are people with brain damage, they’re [expletive] retarded, they’re on e [expletive] spectrum."
Ouch. But he wasn't done yet: "But they’re our brothers, our sisters, our neighbors, our coworkers -- they’re part of our country. These aren’t
bad people, they don’t have prior criminal histo. [Expletive], they were subjected to four-plus years of [expletive] propaganda the likes of which the world has not seen since [expletive] Hitler."
This is the guy *defending* a Trump supporter.
