Democrats make dangerous policies and Republicans are all about safety. The 2 parties need to compromise on things; preferably compromise on just about everything.

But Pelosi & Schumer won't listen. They are "protesting" because Trump's president and they don't like it.

But who are they hurting? Congress needs to learn how to work with the president in order to help their constituents; not work against the president for bragging rights to say "I told Trump to shove it!"

Do any members of Congress care what residents are saying? I ask my lame Democrat for help, and he's nice enough to reply, but his reply translates to "I work for Nancy Pelosi and I have career ambitions."

I heard your governor wants to legalize weed to pay for his spending habits?

I heard your governor wants to legalize weed to pay for his spending habits

I heard him say a few years ago that he was going to legalize weed, but it's been delayed several times presumably because of his re-election in 2023; he will keep the weed-loving NYers waiting while he searches for the best way to personally gain from this.

I can't remember hearing anything about his spending habits though. Could it be all those lawyer fees for illegal immigrants that he's trying to compensate for?

Thats the thing about every one of these people that claim legalizing weed is such a good thing... they miss the point entirely. These are often the same people who hate "the system" who now suddenly whine to the government that
it should be legal because look at how much tax revenue can be generated.

Weed itself isn't really my problem but moreso the way people just blindly approve of a new tax revenue. Its strongly implying that the government has
a revenue problem which is often not the case, its more of a spending problem.

In NY we have a state government that is anti-business. They've made NY a terrible place to do any kind of business with their high taxes and bail reform. So after all that liberal nonsense, now they think they're gonna sell weed - but not until 2023 of course - and they aren't gonna do it right either, like other states.

Can you imagine a weed dispensary telling customers "We don't actually sell weed, only hash oil products?" That's how they executed the medical
marijuana program. They are so stupid. And hash isn't as good as weed for medical use. It loses terpenes during the extraction process. But try telling that to the King of NY. He thinks he's gonna sell hash and that it's gonna fly off the store shelves.

All the stuff people accuse Trump of doing, Cuomo's doing it. Ruling with an iron fist, not listening to science, etc.

For some, MJ is a very useful medical drug. As a pain relief it is as effective and less addictive than opiods.

I can't agree that it's anywhere near as effective as opioids for pain.

People need opioids for certain types of pain. Have you ever had surgery? After surgery, people totally need opioids for pain. Weed? Ha! No way in hell weed is going to make a drilled skull feel better. It might even make it hurt worse.

But I agree with you that it's a useful and effective medical drug for some people with certain ailments. It's not a cure for anything that I know of, although Rick Simpson (known for his Rick Simpson Oil method of whole-plant extraction) has claimed to have cured his own skin cancer with his "amazing oil." I don't believe that the weed cured him; he's just burnt out of his mind. I'll assume that his cancer is in remission, and I'm glad for that, but don't let people trick you into thinking weed is any better than a band-aid for certain medical conditions.

For the record, Rick Simpson's oil sucks! I mean, 1ml will get me baked on a normal day, but then if I try to do it again later in the day, it don't work! The stuff is basically just an extremely potent edible substance, and
it's incredibly difficult to control your tolerance while using it.

..now let me take this into a political direction:

Andrew Cuomo only lets us have hash. He insists that vaping is
safer than smoking (dried flower.) I hope he's right! Because man, this guy has been DEAD wrong about a lot of other stuff. Our MMJ program is only like 5 years old, so I'm hoping to not hear horror stories come out of this. Other states let the patients smoke if they want to.

I have had surgery (my gall bladder died). I think that I was on some
sort of opioid for less than a week. Got a script for 30 pills and used
fewer than 10. Ditto for tooth extraction. I have no direct knowledge
of how MJ would have helped then or not.

That is what I was thinking about. I.e. cronic pain. I know someone
who uses it and gets relief using it without some of the side effects
    from opioid pills.

That's good that it works for that person. I keep hearing that certain strains have anti-inflamatory properties, but I've never used weed in place of motrin or opiates. I suspect that's a ploy for dispensaries to make a few extra sales. I'm not hating on it for that, but I'm afraid it gives people false hope.

If I had a choice between weed or opiates for pain, I'd take the opiates sparingly.
