• Vaccine resistance

I sometimes question whether this has as much to do with politics as it
    does age.

In speaking with my mother one day, she mentioned what it was like when the polio vaccine came out and how much of a miracle that was. People her age might remember that. She is a Republican and was set on getting her
vaccine as soon as she was eligible.

People my age and younger were mostly born into a time where most major diseases like polio already had a vaccine, where some had already been erradicated enough that the vaccine was no longer necessary (ex: small-pox --
I got that one but none of my younger siblings had to), and where lack of such diseases may have been taken for granted or made people complacent.

At some point between when I started school, and when some of the younger people did, I think they may have even quit requiring vaccines as a
    requirement for attending public schools.

I have noticed that, in most cases, those I have met who are resistant to
this vaccine are around my age or younger and are often resistant to
vaccines and/or have a distrust of health professionals in general. In one case where they are not younger than me, they were talked into not getting it by their anti-vaxxer children, who are younger than me and who are against
    all vaccines.

I have also noticed that most anti-vaxxers (all vaccines) are usually near
    my age or younger.

Maybe not growing up with the fear of being put in an iron lung has
    something to do with it.
