Hello Everybody,
US Senator Marco Rubio taught us well - think BIG, not small.
Reminded us all how tiny The Orange One's hands were.
And how BIG the ones that were to come afterward.
You think I am kidding?
The facts speak for themselves -
The Biden administration does big things at home and abroad.
Never small things. Always big things. And nothing inconsequential.
You heard that right. Nothing the Biden administration does
is inconsequential. Everybody feels it. Even those who are yet
to be born. Or never to be born.
Of course, it is possible that the Demcratic Party could screw
everything up by crafting some sort of insane version of Biden's
$3.5 trillion "human infrastructure" package that moderate Dems
will vote for. And progressive Dems might blow up the $1 trillion
"hard infrastructure" bill that the SEnate ha already passed.
But trust me on this - the Armageddon scenario will not happen,
as Joe Cool will get it done. Even if it ain't perty. After all,
this is less about substance than arithmetic - congressional
arithmetic - that only a president who was a former congressman
would uderstand. I mean, the numbers are so humongous that both
Pelosi and Schumer ought to be able to find some kind of way to
make sense of it all to make all the numbers come out right.
Remember, we are talking about trillions of dollars rather than
mere millions. Something the other party would never understand.
Which should tell you just how ambitious the Biden-Harris team
really is. Talk about a team that soothes everybody's feelings
after the insane years of Donald Trump.
Joe Biden is not one who talks the talk and does nothing. Yes,
he does talk the talk. But he does walk the walk. Not like Barack
Obama, who had talked about ending the war in Afghanistan but left
office agreeing to a troop surge instead. Not like Donald Trump,
who negotiated a deal with our enemies the Taliban, yet never
left Afghanistan, getting his own ass booted out of office before
then. No sirree, President Joe Biden kept his word to the American
people, getting our troops out of the hellhole of a fucked up
place, thus ending America's longest war at twenty years. Okay,
Biden could have ended the deal, putting in 30,000+ US troops
in order to keep Afghans who had no desire to protect themselves
from harm, and then kick the can to the next administration to
keep us there for who knows how much longer. Instead, he chose
to bring peace to Afghanistan, saving American lives in the
process, by bringing our men and women back home.
So the withdrawal wasn't pretty. Neither was our withdrawal
from Vietnam. And from other places we left that we had no business
being in. But hey. We got out. All thanks to Joe Biden. The man who
got things done. Rather than just talk about it.
Both Biden and Harris are doing this, conducting a shift in our
foreign policy that folks have been talking about doing for decades.
Rather than continuing our mad focus on Europe and the Middle East,
the Biden/Harris administration is setting their eyes on China.
And doing so in a very big way.
President Joe Biden has hosted the first in-person summit of
the Quad (not the four Muslim women in Congress that Trump was
ranting about, but the USA, Japan, Australia and India).
He also chose to give Australia nuclear-powered submarine
technology. And he sent Vice President Kamala Harris to SE
Asia to shore up our ties with Singapore and Vietnam.
China does not like that at all. And wishes Donald Trump
was still in charge, with his tiny hands showing the world
how incompetent the USA is and has become.
The Chinese leadership views President Joe Biden as hostile
to China, and would really like to see him drop dead. But we
all know the Chinese leadership will never say that in public,
as they want the world to believe the opposite. Especially in
regards to Taiwan, which in their view belongs to China and
not to the people who reside on that island.
President Joe Biden's political standing and future depends
on his domestic agenda. He needs some wins. Which he will get.
Anything big is messy. And what President Joe Biden is doing
is big. So it will be messy. So count on it getting done.
Barack Obama got his Affordable Care Act passed. This was
the most significant change in government since the days of
Ronald Reagan. What Joe Biden is seeking to do is bigger.
Much bigger. More like a sea change, than a mere tidal rise.
President Joe Biden wants to make it possible for the average
American to be able to buy electric cars. And to build charging
stations to make them practical. This is just one of many ways
of fighting climate change. What did Donald Trump do about
fighting climate change? Not a damn thing.
President Joe Biden wants high-speed trains on heavily-traveled
routes. What did Donald Trump do about that? Not a damn thing.
President Joe Biden wants everyone to have broadband internet
access. What did Donald Trump want everyone to have? Not a damn
thing.
President Joe Biden wants to provide free or subsidized child
care and 12 weeks of guaranteed paid family leave. What did
Donald Trump do about that? Not a damn thing.
President Joe Biden wants to offer free preschool for all 3-
and 4-year-olds and two free years of community college.
What did Donald Trump provide for those folks? Not a damn
thing.
OK, OK, OK. So President Joe Biden wants to give everything
including the kitchen sink. And that is exactly what this nation
needs. So why should we not get what we want? I mean, we deserve
it. All of us.
I'm not going to stop him. And I do not know anybody else who
wants to stop him. So why should anybody else want to stop him?
We should all get what we truly deserve.
President Joe Biden is giving us what the nation needs after
four decades (not years but decades) of trickle-down voodoo
economics that created massive inequality throughout the land.
An economic inequality that allowed the nation's physical and
human infrastructure to fall behind - so far behind it may be
impossible to recover.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have been in office a mere eight
months. What they have been able to do so far (minus the style
points) is awesome. Even while admitting their failures, such
as on immigration. So here is what I tell them -
SWING FOR THE FENCES, BABY! SWING FOR THE FENCES!
That is how to get things done.
