• diskshop BBS and sciNet?

From Digital Man@1:103/705 to All on Sunday, January 16, 2022 03:16:56
Anyone know what happen to netsurge's BBS and message network?

Neither bbs.diskshop.ca or scinet-ftn.org resolve anymore. Just double-checking before I delete the message network from my configuration.

Yeah, he up and disappeared many moons ago. Apparently that isn't the
first time he's done such a thing. As I understand it he simply lost
interest in it and pursued other things.

Somebody else stepped up and took over as the single Hub, and I've been
getting a feed from there for a few months, but there is basically ZERO traffic. I'm on the wrong computer to be able to check the details, but
as I recall it was "Deon <something>". I believe you may already know
him and if so he could probably re-connect you to the net.

I will likely be asking to be removed from SciNet in the very near
future, seems it's really gone for good.

Okay, thanks for the reply. I was actually feeding from Diskshop via QWKnet, which was a good test for me for Mystic-compatibility. Oh well.

I used to carry that on my BBS. I noticed his BBS seemed to go offline quite a while ago.

There are likely some mystic bbses still active on the net but, like Gamgee pointed out, the traffic is lower than it used to be. Usually some traffic
in the BBS ads echo, and sometimes in other areas about art packs, etc.
