  • registering for Fido

    sorry everyone for all of my recent posts... just running into another issue... i set up the BinkIT as per the wiki and sent my request to join Fidonet, but in the mail server window, I'm seeing this:

    8/3 01:04:31p 6552 SEND !Delivery attempt #1 FAILED (r1.beaverhosting.ca replied with: "550 Rejected by Spamhaus." instead of the expected reply: "250 ...") for message #1 from Robert Olsen to nandre@net229.org
    8/3 01:04:31p 6552 SEND !Bouncing message back to Robert Olsen
    8/3 01:04:31p 6552 SEND !Delivery failure notification (message #2) created for Robert Olsen

    We have Verizon FiOS and I'm assuming that it's their server bouncing it and not on my end.. is that correct? Any changes I can make in teh SBBSCFG? (I looked under mail/services and didn't see much except the edit section has some possibilities under 'mail.'

    It looks like your BBS's IP address is blocked on spamhaus (did you check?) and the receiving server (for net229.org) is rejecting your connection because of that.

    You can either: work to get your BBS's address de-listed from spamhaus (if you have a static IP address, this is probably worth the effort/time to do) or use another SMTP server to relay your outbound messages (https://wiki.synchro.net/howto:relay_smtp)
