    Pings every 5 seconds for what? It originates in Germany.

    your life will be so much better if you ignore that stuff.. i don't know if bbs sysops are just hyper sensitive to junk internet traffic or what, but it's just not worth wasting your life on.

    that guy really wants to know your bbs is online. good for him.

    This is basically the finger service. It runs to allow inter-bbs
    communication by grabbing a list of users on your BBS. It's really low
    overhead and not a significant problem.

    If you stop the service, people won't be able to finger your server and
    it'll probably mean they cannot use inter-bbs comms that requires it.

    Thanks for the reply. This is what I thought it was. The inter-bbs chat thing has never worked here anyway. :-)
