    Hello All,

I just received an email from Nick saying severe weather is in his area and his system may shut down when the UPS battery runs out.

Since mail still arrived to you like clockwork, nothing happened to your feed.

Arkansas is in a pattern with storms for 2 days, sun for 2 days, storms
for 2 days, etc. That leaves little time for BBS work.

    Sean,

Power seems to be back on now... (watch it go out again)

    Sysop's curse. <G>

Entergy did that to me yesterday with "infrastructure upgrades". No
warning, and power was out for over 6 hours (was projected to be out
for 10-12 hours). Either way, I lost every bit of food in the icebox,
and have to go out today to replenish the supply.

And, that also meant no computer/BBS work or laundry yesterday.

For some reason I thought you had a basic UPS for your computer?

But yes, here the power company is notorious for brownouts of random length.

    Nick,

For some reason I thought you had a basic UPS for your computer?

That I do...but it lasts basically for an hour, just enough time to save
your work, and shut it down properly. Not like when you ran MS-DOS, and
could just power down whenever you wanted, and the system wouldn't complain vociferously.

But yes, here the power company is notorious for brownouts of random length.

Lightning has hit the power substations, putting that part of the city
in the dark...but more often, a squirrel gets in there, fries himself,
    and does the same thing.
