• introduce yourself to nearby sysops

From pweck@23:1/1 to All on Tuesday, October 06, 2026 07:46:58
say hello to a few other sysops in your network early on. most are happy to answer questions and share tips, and knowing them makes troubleshooting less lonely

a short introduction in the right message area is all it takes because relationships built early are useful for years

To tell you the truth, it's been so many years that I have forgotten. But if memore serves me it was pretty hard. Might be a lot easier now though since its gone through loads of changes in the past. I set mine up in 1094.

    1994?

Yeah, 1994. Actually i've been running my boards since 1980 non-stop with various hardware and software platforms. In other words, I run 2 boards. One since 1980 and the other since 1994.

Its not too hard. When one machine dies switch to another machine. I keep a daily backup so nothing is ever lost.
