    Is posting weekly too often?

    Hi Marty,

For me and maybe for the reading user, the question is always:

"What has actually changed in "terms of content" in your BBS since the last ad—aside from the image?"

That should be the purpose of a BBS ad!

To highlight changes or additions that pique a user's curiosity and entice them to visit a BBS!

Or I'm wrong with my opinion?

i agree, ive been guilty of more than once a week, but it was to promote SysOpNet, a new shiny thing. but after seeing political ad after ad on tv, i get it. same s?%t, different pile.
if you are going to post, make it about something new or different like "hey, drop by and see the new game i am programming"
bottom line, if youve got time to post daily or weekly, there's time to get creative 'cause like the political ads on tv, you start to block them out and anger over the samne thing
    ok, off my soapbox!

Hm, I've got news on my system for that... I have 11 random ads that
display, and they change every time, which is certainly better than a static ad. I could decrease frequency, though.

Ok, I'll stop posting weekly messages in the ANSI and promotion areas, then.

I would like to briefly outline what has happened here, following a situation that got out of hand
across "five other networks" under a single Zone Coordinator.

Specifically, I am referring to the same BBS advertisements appearing daily—posted by two or three sysops.
We were tired of having to do this manually every single day.

Our add-on software here now keeps a very close eye on these BBS ads! If the exact same ad reappears the next day,
our mail system automatically deletes the previous day’s version entirely and final!
    I would call this now the "PWeck-effect"! : - )

It isn't nice, it’s annoying, it’s spam, and because sysops have either never understood the original purpose
for which advertising was created in the first place, or have since forgotten it?

News, Changes, Extensions to a bbs system are always very welcome!!

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Example:
    New at “Sysops Finest” forum:

"Planetary Trader" – a "new" ported game from the "Wildcat (WINS)" universe – has now been added to our
BBS forum, complete with numerous expansions. Play, fight, explore, trade in the universe => Interested?
Sign up with us and start playing... We have also integrated InterBBS support!"

A DOS, Windows, or Linux version could be planned (Door.sys, Door32.sys) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Send it once, maybe twice at most... that’s enough! Those who are interested will take a look into our forum;
the others won’t come even after the 10th, 20th or 30th time! Or?

The same add, please limit it to a maximum of once a month. (my personal opinion)
