• Files Mysteriously Appear on Desktop

    Hi Everyone,

I have two files that periodically appear on my desktop. I delete them
and they will reappear a few days later. They are named "iedkcs32.wmp"
and "jsproxy.wmp". Any ideas as to what they are and why they keep reappearing?

I am running under NT4 and am connected to a local area network. It may
have something to do with me ending tasks that are not responding or
programs crashing or terminating improperly. I also notice programs in my system tray do not always restart when I log in (even the standard volume control is gone).

    Thanks,
Bryan (drop the X if you e-mail me)

Google doesn't know details either, but suggests a relation to
either internet explorer setup or (squid) proxy.

P.S. did you try having a look at them with a hex-editor
    or notepad?

that can happen if you inadvertently *copy* an application to your
desktop rather than use a shortcut
