• Your system is low on virtual memory.....

    From mspitzer@mspitzer@email.com (Mark Spitzer) to microsoft.public.win2000.setup,microsoft.public.win2000.general,alt.os.windows2000,comp.os.ms-windows.misc on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 15:10:57

From time to time I got an error dialog window with the erro message:
Your system is low on virtual memory

    Why?

The virtual memory I specify in the systems control panel of Win2000 IS definitively big enough.
Could it be that the free memory on the harddisc resp. the partition is (temporarily) lower than the virtual memory specified?

In this case the error message is misleading: It should show: "hard disc memory insufficient" or something similar.

    Regards
    Mark

I usually get that after a GPF or two.

I normally reboot and it's fine.

you done a scandisk of your pagefile.sys lately?
rule of thumb: virtual memory should 2.5 * installed ram size
