    Hi,

does anybody know whether it's possible to preset the appearance of DOS
boxes resp. how to assign such an appearance (font type, font size,
size of window etc.) to a certain DOS utility?

    Thanks in advance!

(In XP) click on the icon on the top LHS of the DOS window. Select properties... and go from there.

Sorry, I forgot to mention I'm using W98... I knew that I can change properties this way, AFM, what I'd be interested in however is to
*preset* those properties so that each time the utility referred to is launched the window appears with same properties, either taken from an
earlier call, or possibly stored elsewhere... Is it possible at all?

    Thanks,

    Klaus

If its a DOS utility - which I suppose it is - when it launches - cant U

set the properties then - so that the next time those properties will be
used again. I haven't any dos utils which fire up a dos window any more
som I cant test this! In XP the file cmd.exe (in Windows\System32) is
run when a batch file is executed - I can set 'Do not close on Exit' for
this - I have a shortcut on the desktop and this and other options are available under the Properties tab... I am not sure this will do what U
want though. Will try and investigate further. IN the olden days of
course we had PIFs (Pgm Information Files) which were used to execute
the command processor AND set the option first - they were editable with
the Windows system PIF editor - long gone!! (windowz 3.1 I think)

    :-\

When you set the window properties, it asks if you want to apply it
to this window only (temporary) or to the shortcut that starts the
program (lasting). At least it does under NT4.

There's no such query. I tested different settings but none of them
    made properties permanent.
