Some hardware router has 'admin' option to disallow Web browsing
filtered by Mac address. Go to
    http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers for port and description
    which to block.

    Hi

Is there any way of preventing people accessing the internet by typing the url into 'my computer' or windows explorer windows? We are a school and have found students using this method to access the internet even though we have removed IE.
    We are using Windows 98/NT
    Thanks for any help
    Dave

You can install free firewall like ZoneAlarm and by default ( on start ) all internet closed up to you start to open.

ZoneAlarm, software firewall, YIKES! Software firewall is too lame.
Kids can crack ZoneAlarm, don't underestimate them. You can block WWW
or port 80, 443, 8080, 8001, etc. by Mac address.
