• autorun.inf - generic icon showing under win xp

I was having trouble with a generic icon appearing for the CD drive
under win xp but not under win 2k, I found that removing the label
statement from the autorun.inf allows it to work, someone had pointed
    out in an earlier thread.

With experimentation I then found that putting the icon name in the
label statement and no icon statement also means that the correct icon
appears. This would appear to be a win xp issue.

I'm posting this in response to other posts that are now too old for
Google Groups to allow me to respond to.
