Hi Sanjoy,
Start/find/files, look for scandisk.alt - if it exists delete it. It is a leftover from having Norton's installed, and its existence interferes with
the normal operation of the Windows disk utility.

I have Cyrix MII processor based PC. I have installed MS Windows-98
(Second
Edition - version: 4.10.2222 A).
My problem is that after a Bad Shutdown (for power failure, system crash etc.....) when I restart my computer, the Scandisk doesn't run before the Windows loads - which is causing Hard Disk error frequently.
I have checked Msconfig ->General->Advanced : and "Disable Scandisk after
bad shutdown" is NOT checked there !
Please advise what should I do to fix this problem.
Regards
Sanjoy
