Have U checked the power options in control panel to see if any of these
have been set for any options to shut the machine down - if there have
    - disable them all. HAs the screensaver got any powersave options
enabled if there are any options. DOes the machine shut down properly or
just turn off without warning. Delete as many tasks from tak manager -
do not run any programs and see how long it takes to turn off.... is
this repeatable. Also check the BIOS and disable any power save function there...

Yous English is much better than my Italian - no apologies needed for
    trying!

thank you very much, this has been a serious answer, I will do all the suggested operations.
although I really doubt I have a virus (first I was using pc cillin
constantly updated, now I have just switched to AVG, and it should be up to date too)
I haven't understood fair well what you said about the boot disk ( i presume
it means that you should have an antivirus that runs froma a secure and not
for sure infected floppy, or a antivirus that starts before all the rest
start (as norton used to do when I was using it 4 years ago)) but don't worry...I'll figure it out alone :-)
    have a nice day

    finally
I managed to check everything out and you were right.
when I switch the laptop on, the CPU starts at 82 degrees, as
soon as I put some music on with WMP it reaches 92-93, then I shut it down before it collapses (the limit seems to be 90) it goes down again a little.
I really don't understand how it is possible that the music send it to over
90 whilst videos do not since I use the same software...but those are
    mysteries for me.
    anyway
thx again hava a nice day

Good grief 93C - my AMD Athlon (2100+) runs about 53C all the time and I thought that was hot. 90 is way too high - the cooling hardware isnt
working properly or at all. I had a Sony VAIO laptop and it went bums
up. SOmrthing to do with the screen POWER saver - also seeming to switch
the CPU fan off!!! Result - all the bottom of the case, around the RAM - melted - thought the machine would still boot - it happened twice - then
I sent it back and it was quickly replaced!!
