• BuGS v1.0 released

I am happy to announce a new game for the Apple //GS. This year, the GS
turns 35 so a classic arcade shooter seemed like a good way to celebrate.

For more information about the game and to download it, visit this URL:

Some good news and bad news. The good news is that you do not need an accelerator at all for this game. It runs at 60 frames per second on a standard GS. The bad news is that it doesn’t work well under some GS emulators. Specifically Sweet16 and GSplus are not recommended for BuGS.
Mame and KEGS work well though. Please see the readme in the distribution
    for more information about emulators.

That looks amazing! Very much like the original, and one of my
    favorites back in the day!

You've got great initials too for writing assembly code: JSR!

Thanks! About my initials, I always thought it would be fun to get a personalized license plate which is “JSR FDED” or something similar. Don’t
think you can put a dollar sign on a license plate though.

Very, very nice work, and source code to boot.

Well done, and I say that as a guy who has never paid a lot of attention
to games, but who does remember the era when the early video games
started squeezing out space in the coin arcades from the pinball machines.

Thanks for all the effort you expended bringing this to fruition (and
sharing the coding) on the Apple IIgs.

Oh boy, good timing for me. I'm just getting into sound programming on my ROM01. Thanks for sharing the source
tree. I'll be looking it over to try and learn more.

That's ok; if the IIgs System Monitor disassembler can forego the $,
    so can you. :)

Nice job! I was following your progress reports on the Apple ][
Infinitituitum slack channel this past fall. :-)

Fantastic job - this is one of the best arcade ports for the IIgs and love the icon too!

Thanks. I am glad you like the game. The icon comes courtesy of fatdog on
the Apple II slack channel. He does lots of great graphics, sound and
animation for the GS and provided the icon and some of the sounds in BuGS.

There are other people also who contributed to the project and I have tried
    to recognize them here:
