• Unopened IIe

Sigh. I wonder how someone managed to add cards to this IIe without opening
the box or plastic wrap? It's like a... a miracle or something.

I didn't see anything in the eBay listing about peripheral cards. I would presume they were added at the factory (i.e. Apple).

I didn't see anything in the eBay listing about peripheral cards. I would presume they were added at the factory (i.e. Apple).

Well, there were obviously cards in it, since the rear openings were at
least partially populated in the photo. I never had an "initial owner"
Apple //e - always picked up second-hand rigs - so I don't know if Apple
ever offered to pre-install cards. I don't recall ever hearing about 'em coming "pre-stuffed", but I expect it's possible that it was bought, the
shop put the cards in for him, and slipped it back into the bag and box
    for the trip home.

I'm thinking the bidding is a bit over the top already, though, so I
won't be involved. Besides... I've already got half a dozen floating
around the place, with one actually set up to be used! :)

It's actually referred to as a "lie". :-) Did anyone else notice the
cable end having "TOP" written on it? There isn't even a face plate
clamp on that cable end. If it were "from the factory", it would have
an Apple brand Super Serial Card with external DB-25 connector. There
appears to be a floppy disk controller, mouse card and some other DB-25 connector on the back of it. Did they come from the factory with the
CAPSlock already down? Does an "un-enhanced" model come with no sticker
    at all over the light?
I have an opened box, unopened bag, platinum IIe and it is in a pink
bag with no cards and no face pates missing. Mine has a shrink-wrapped
package of manuals and software. I would think the seller would have
included a picture of these, as well as the inside of the box with new Styrofoam if it were a new, unopened model.

    My 2 cents,
    Jason Whorton

To the best of my knowledge, the Apple II was never sold with preinstalled cards installed. Besides, those cards would have been knocked out of their sockets during shipping, as I've seen many times with the used systems that have been mailed to me. Apple wouldn't have done it that way, and if the box was opened to install the cards, then it wouldn't be an "unopened" system. Unused would be the more appropriate term in this case, assuming that it
never was used by the previous owner.

My post was meant to poke fun at the seller, and the buyer who might not
    know better.

My ][+ also came in a pink bag when purchased in 1983.

The seller says a fellow eBayer e-mailed him about it, so he added some information about its whereabouts and condition. Who could it have
    been?!

    Why, it was,
