• Appleworks problems

I tried to boot Appleworks yesterday to look at some old files and had two problems:
    - First, the program doesn't like the current date as read from the GS clock card, and would not proceed until I changed the year to 1999 (pre-2000)
    - Second, the program got a little further to the point where it started loading the program into the ram card, and then it hung.

Both problems were entirely repeatable - is there a patch available for
    these issues?

    - Mike

(Sorry if this is in a FAQ, but it doesn't ring a bell for me)

The year 2000 problem is fixable with a patch. Just tell us which version of AppleWorks you are using. This should be visible on the splash screen, before the date entry screen. If it goes by so fast you can't see the version, you can also see it at the bottom of the Help screen (press OA-? for Help). Each version of AppleWorks prior to v3.0 has a different startup patch for years after 1999.

I don't know about the Ram card. What kind of Ram card is it? Are you using a different AppleWorks that you have used in the past?

I think its AppleWorks version 2.0; it doesn't get as far as the help
    screen.

I think the RAM card is an AE product. I used to use Appleworks with a
Laser 128 and it didn't have these issues. Is a more recent version of Appleworks available from one of the archives (e.g. ground) that includes
    the appropriate patches?

    Thanks,

No worries; I ran Appleworks under a24win and copied my files off. Come to think of it, I could have done the same thing with CiderPress.
