Can anyone tell me what is the difference between this two versions of >Mockingboard:

    1. Mockingboard SSP2000 Rev D - 1985
    2. Mockingboard 'C' - 1983

I thought card 2 is more superior than card 1. But card 1 was made 2 years >later.

It would help to know what differences are observable, if you have them.

Since the sound generation is identical, I presume the difference is in
    the speech synthesis...?

Later cards used the SSI-263 chip, which has a couple of bugs that
the earlier SC-01 chip did not have. I have found it particularly
noticeable after "glottal stops", when a distinct electronic "pop"
is audible with the 263 that was not present with the SC-01.

    Hi Michael,

I do not have the newer card (SSP2000 Rev D) to learn the differences. Hopefully someone who has it can verify the problem.

Is the question about speech or sound? (As I said, all the
Mockingboards use the same sound generation chip.)

If speech, which chip does the board you have use? How many
    pins? And 0.300" width (SC-01) or 0.600" width (SSI-263)?

I believe the reason the later cards used the SSI-263 is that
the SC-01 was no longer being made. The SSI-263 is very much
like the SC-01, but has a few "improvements" that were not
    thoroughly debugged.
