    Hello,

Those owning a Commodore 128 (or using the VICE emulator, which
emulates both a Commodore 64 and a 128) will be pleased to hear that
(finally) I have released version 7.0 of "Enchanter: West Front to
    Apse":

    http://www.geocities.com/dunric/c16.html

You will also find 8 other Commodore-specific adventure games on the
    site as well.

Another website has a few other Commodore/Windows adventures I have
    written available here:

Three versions of "West Front to Apse" were released: Version 5.0,
Version 6.1 and Version 7.0. Technically, a Version 6.2 existed, but
was scrapped in favor of Version 7.0 entirely.

    Among the improvements:

    1. Game has been expanded somewhat (there are new areas to explore).
    2. The towns of Oslo and Trondheim were corrected on the game map (no
    longer one below the other).
    3. References to King Olav were improved (more accurate).
    4. The Light House on Flora Isle was expanded somewhat.
    5. Some "special" effects were added, like the "Story Introduction"
splitting in half in a neat "Screen Clearing" effect.
    6. The "map" command was bug-fixed (You can now view both Long and
Short range maps without having to pull your hair out).
    7. The "Long Range" map (Exterior Surface Map) has been bugfixed so
that as you move along the countryside of Norway the "white dot" on
the map correlates to where you are in the text adventure.
    8. The "Westfront" sprite-title has been enlarged.
    9. The automatic "function key" commands at the bottom have been
    improved.
    10. Troll Gomar now has a roll in the game (reminisent of the first
version done in 1993-4: he tells you about the surrounding forestland,
    it's history, etc.)
    11. The improvements were squeezed into BASIC 7.0 on the Commodore 128
without sacrificing speed of gameplay (536 *bytes* remained in Bank 0
of Commodore 128 RAM; the variable space occupies around 24-25kb in
Bank 1 of Commodore 128 RAM).
    12. The "window" effect has been stablized.

I wish I could get "Mystic Castle" (a Commodore 64-version of the
game) out there as well. I used machine language for the "window"
effect in the game. It's floating around in .D64 format on someone's
computer. Made the pennyfarthing of a Commodore user groups month
    disk. ;)

    Sincerely,

    Paul Allen Panks
