    Hi everyone,
I once read that AOL was originally a company or a soft developped under another name for the C64 + a modem.
Can anyone tell me the name ?

    Many thx in advance.
    Thierry

    From http://www.aolmemorabilia.com/ :

: Who was Bill von Meister, you ask? Well, he founded a little company
: called Digital Music (can anyone say 'Napster'?), which begat CoVideo
: (can anyone say 'Atari'?), which begat Quantum Computer Services (can
: anyone say 'Commodore 64'?), which in turn begat...begat...America
: Online (can anyone say...oh, forget it!)

So, the answer to your question should be Q-Link I believe.

The company was known as Quantum Communications at the time, I believe.
The product was QuantumLink, or Q-Link as many people called it.
The service was, well, basically like AOL in its early days. There wasn't
any Internet access, but all the chatrooms, message boards, and file
downloads were there. There was even a "virtual reality" environment
called Club Caribe where users could wander around a "resort" and interact
    with each other.

Yes it's Q-Link, came on the back of GEOS disks, (I'm not sure if it was available elsewhere), you want a copy ;o), prolly about as good as AOL
    is anyways ;o)
